Yet, obviously they have watched the show, and have been so interested in it, that they found a blog and made a comment. A little hypocritical, wouldn't you say? I love the show, Kate can be annoying, but I think she copes superbly with 8 children, and if you could quit your job, wouldn't you? I sure would! On the other hand, I would not have wanted cameras in my home 4 days a week when my kids were little either. My house was way too messy, I was way too disorganized, and our fights were not the little snippy ones Jon & Kate have, they were big blow-ups, although they did not happen nearly as often as Jon & Kate's little fights. With Jon & Kate you always know it is not going to escalate into a big fight though. With me & my husband, that was never the case. And still is not, to this day. A little disagreement, can quickly turn into a huge fight, and not something anybody would want to watch on TV. I admire Jon & Kate for allowing us all to see their imperfections, along with the many RIGHTS things they do in raising their 8 beautiful kids.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-875099505545555742.post-9885521175620127202008-08-29T13:20:00.000-07:002008-08-29T13:20:00.000-07:00testing testing testingtesting testing testingAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-875099505545555742.post-39697708783728309002008-07-29T11:34:00.000-07:002008-07-29T11:34:00.000-07:00No, I know I'd not ever want cameras in my home to...No, I know I'd not ever want cameras in my home to the extent that Jon and Kate have them. Not for any amount of money. I only have 4 kids, but some of my cousins have 5 - 8 kids and we all just work regular jobs to support our families. Cameras not needed.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-875099505545555742.post-62977400227881570882008-07-24T16:54:00.000-07:002008-07-24T16:54:00.000-07:00I am pretty positive given the same circumstances ...I am pretty positive given the same circumstances I would have declined. I would assume if they didn't want to do it they would have the choice of performing poorly so that they didn't get the part or were released from their contract.

I think that's a big assumption. Ever heard of stage parents? I suppose if the Gosselin children didn't want to be filmed they could come up with some remedy (hide from the cameras, put their hands over their faces like stars do in public some times).

I can understand having concerns about there not being regulation of children on reality TV. But I've seen no evidence that the Gosselin children are made to "work" the way that a child actor does. They aren't on a set, performing; they are just living their lives. They appear, for the most part, to be happy, healthy, and generally oblivious to the cameras. It may seem odd to us, but it's normal for them.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-875099505545555742.post-64786827184202056272008-07-24T14:42:00.000-07:002008-07-24T14:42:00.000-07:00Child actors appeared to be monitored much more cl...Child actors appeared to be monitored much more closely. They are given breaks when they are in TV shows. I don't believe they do more than 24 episodes a year. For the most part, it appears to be more of a choice for child actors. However, I would be sure to have set up separate accounts for all my children for the future. Aside from the fact that it ain't gonna happen, I have concerns about extending the so-called nanny state in this way. At some point, I think a society has to agree that unless a parental action is causing physical or emotional abuse to a child, we need to stay out of it. And even though folks will claim that the Gosselin kids are being abused by appearing on TV, they simply don't have anything other than their own feelings to back this proposition up.

Hey, personally I wish the kids weren't taken to an Assembly of God church, but that too is J&K's decision, not mine and not yours.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-875099505545555742.post-43023756743782604702008-07-24T13:05:00.000-07:002008-07-24T13:05:00.000-07:00iwantwhatsbestforthekids, do you disapprove of chi...iwantwhatsbestforthekids, do you disapprove of child actors, as well?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-875099505545555742.post-55015868720043275792008-07-24T12:08:00.000-07:002008-07-24T12:08:00.000-07:00No, I believe that is blatant exploitation of your...No, I believe that is blatant exploitation of your children and does more harm than the money could do good. There are many ways to provide for your family and there are still a lot of families out there with 8 kids that provide for them without a TV show. I couldn't say for sure because I was never presented with the opportunity, but I tend to be an extremely private person.

That said, I do not judge the Gosselins one bit for their choice. It seems to me that taking advantage of the offer has had both good and bad consequences for them, but so far, they seem to believe its the right choice for their family.

I have said it before and I'll say it again, I wish them only the best wherever the future takes them.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-875099505545555742.post-23890917750875830652008-07-24T10:43:00.000-07:002008-07-24T10:43:00.000-07:00I probably would have agreed to 4 one hour special...I probably would have agreed to 4 one hour specials a year to coincide with the seasons.
