Another Positive Vibe Zone

Another positive vibe zone. We need one today. Let's discuss the benefits the Gosselin children have growing up with six brothers and sisters all the same age.

One obvious one that comes to mind is the sharing of clothes. Especially for the girls when they become teenagers.

I think for the six there will be a very strong bond based on the fact that they will be considered an oddity by some and also that they are all the same age and going through the same experiences at the same time.

Just having a sibling the same age is a real treat (ok, it can be a pain too!). My mom was a twin and the connection she had with her sister was one of the strongest in her life (even when her sister drove her crazy). My sister and I are very close in age and that has helped to form an attachment that is extremely close as well.

It's really hard to imagine how it will all shake out with six individuals! And one of the things I like about this show is all the kids really do have unique personalities. That is going to make for some interesting times ahead!

Well, with their sisters they are one short for a baseball team!

Here's a few that I came up with:

1. Instant playmates - my youngest two are very close in age (20 months apart) and although they bicker with each other at times, they are each other's best friend. Each Tup has 5 potential best friends with the further advantage that if any of them are bickering with another sibling, they have other siblings their age to find harmony with.

2. Great training for dealing with a future spouse - having siblings of the opposite sex helps each tup understand how the other half behaves, communicates, interacts. There are definately gender differences and I do not fault Jon and Kate for recognizing these in a positive way. ie:LOVE that Jon is teaching the boys "ladies first", not so fond of referring to the boys as "gross".

3. Socialization - Not much room to be selfish when you have to share with 5 other kids your age. The tups will learn (sometimes the hard way) to wait their turn (okay, maybe not from skipping lines at amusement parks, but in their everyday home life :0)). They will need to learn how to express themselves as individuals appropriately when they wish to be heard over their other siblings. They might also be really creative problem solvers ie: how to work together using their powers of distraction and denial so that Kate never finds out who really took the handle off the dresser drawer. Cue Collin's happy dance! LOL!

I've always kind of wanted a big family - I imagine those kids will not lack for stimulation or company. And yes, I think they'll have the bond of understanding each other in a way that is unique. I think they'll support each other a lot as they grow older (even if they probably fight sometimes as well!).

They will always have someone to sit with on the school bus and since most schools don't have 6 different teachers for each grade, they will always have a "buddy" in their classrooms.

Although I think you title is cheesy I will say, "Thank God the kids have each other".

In this home life, I do think more is better for the siblings. They have each other, and I do think they will need each other's support in their lifetime.

They have each other, and that must be comforting when you are locked up in your room at nap time.

I have always thought that Mady and Cara are close too. It's like the get each other.

I liked Colin's "screw you" dance as well!

Your math is off. A Gosselin tup has 5 brothers and sisters. There are 6 total.
Anyway I am glad these kids have each other. Most of the time the sibling bond is strong, these kids will have lots of support from each other in their lives

I'm a 6th grade school teacher and I wish I could have every one of these cutie-pies in my class! They are going to have so much fun when they go to school togetjher! I bet that little Colin and Alexis will be little cheaters. haha ;) Aaden will be the smartest! You can just tell. Leah will be little miss smarty pants and I dont mean like Aaden!!! Hannah will definitely be the teachers pet. Who did I forget? Oh Joel! He's just a shy little fella! I'd just love to have them all in my class so I could love and hug them all day! I dont even live in Penn but I hear they may be moving to N.C. so maybe there's a chance - hehe!

If one of them breaks Kate's favorite super sized organic-only coffee mug, she'll never know who to blame (shining example: the infamous, over analyzed door knob).

I think they will have great social skills! Not to mention the girls get to share clothes! Can you imagine when all of them get married and have kids? Lord help J&K during Christmas! That will be one packed house. There is definitely no way they'll fit in that house. Nobody better mess with them at school or they'll have the whole pack to answer to! I imagine Alexis will be the protective one...she's tough!

I can't imagine the show will go on for too many more years but I would love to see a revisit when the kids are all in their 20s. The good, the bad and the ugly. With so many kids there are bound to be some problems here and there but overall I think they will turn out fine. A family with so many kids is tough to handle when they are young but once they are older and start bringing their own kids around it is just awesome. I love that aspect of a large family.

Strength in numbers, for sure!
Perhaps, someday the tups will tell all those that were so quick to judge, to stick it up their collective butts and that they turned out just fine, thank you very much!

They'll always have a buddy. Someone to eat lunch with at school. Someone to hang with at the mall. Someone to play sports with.

I don't expect big family Christmas's for this family.

I think by the time the kids are 18 they will be clamoring to get out, and stay out-unless their Mother and Father make drastic changes.

Anyway, I can't see Kate wanting to entertain a group of people. She doesnt even cook for her own kids now, or do their laundry, or take care of ANY of their basic needs.

"She doesnt even cook for her own kids now, or do their laundry, or take care of ANY of their basic needs."

Why do people like you insist on talking about things you know nothing about! From what I see, she does an excellent job taking care of ALL their needs. So what if she gets extra help sometimes or all the time for that matter! It really isn't up to you how she raises her kids. I think they will definitely be very close when they are older. They are a very loving family and I hope they still do a special every year or so when they get older. It should be interesting to see them when they are older. I bet they all turn out great thanks to their parents raising them well. Something good has to be said about them for raising 8 great kids. Can some people give them credit for anything they do? All of them are unique in their own way.

Unfortunately, at this point, from what I see, and what I know....I give them credit for nothing except exploiting children for them source of income.

I think that the tups and the twins will have a very special bond between them being multiples.

I imagine Christmas would be fantastic. They could all get different gifts but probably have a great time sharing them.

ITA with that anon.

I think when the children grow up Jon & Kate will get their wish and have a lot of grandchildren running around. There will be a lot of close cousins. I can envision a strong family bond.

They could help each other with their homework. They would all have the same homework.

Daisy said...

Good point about the homework anon. How nice for Kate will that be!

Anonymous said...

oh, those precious little babies will always have a best friend...but they will probably also have a large circle of friends!

that is just one of MANY, but i don't have time to list them all right now! i'll be back later :)

awww...i just loved collin's little "happy" dance, so cute!

They'll always have a friend. The bond that they have will stay with them for life and give them support. They'll never have to worry about being bored as children and they have a built-in support system at Sunday School, school, and on the playground. Can you imagine the homework help they can have in school?

Anonymous said...

I agree about the homework too, but the flip side, of course, will six science fair projects!

I have nightmares of my daughter's elmentary/middle school years. We were always trying to think up an idea nobody had done before and then I would have to nag her for 3-4 weeks to get the darn thing done! (Ending up doing some of it myself!)

Multiply that times 6 and I think I would have been in the loony bin!

Still, I think the Gosselins are very blessed and I am sure they will find a way to make it work...

OMG, this is hilarious!!! good one :) i agree with you whole heartedly!

Hmmmmm...Advantages? After their parents are long gone these kids will have each other and no one else in the world will be able to relate to the experiences (good or bad) that they all shared.

As to Mady, I think she is the most articulate of all the kids and shows how much of an individual she really is by not just going along to get along with the whole Kate "Aren't we all just happy" thing. She needs attention and demands it. She tells it like it is in her perception and may just end up being the healthiest of all the kids because of her ability to vent.

A good thing about being a sextuplet: one is never alone.
A bad thing about being a sextuplet: one is never alone.

Haha! One of the Dilley sextuplets said that.
