Poll idea:

How many days until the P-Mommy site implodes on itself?

-1 Day
-1 Week
-1 Month
-Hopefully, no time soon. This trainwreck is fascinating!

I'd love to see an open discussion/off topic about just being women. Fun things to do with kids, ways to relax, great recipes, etc. I get the impression that most of the posters here are women, but I would love to have some male povs on this subject, too.

We may not all agree on the Gosselins, but we can all relate to eachother in some way whether it be parenting, careers, relationships, or just the stress life in general.

I think this blog should come up with it's own mission! Here are some suggestions:

GDNNOP is an advocate for bloggers everywhere who desire to read comments that don't use CAPITAL LETTERS for EVERY OTHER WORD.

GDNNOP is an advocate for bloggers who would like to say their piece without being blasted off the face of the earth by rude comments about how we don't care about certain issues.

GDNNOP's mission is to let people talk. That's all.

I don't know, my creative juices aren't flowing for this mission statement yet, but give me time!

It may not be interesting to most people, but it is to me - since the organic food is such an issue with the Gosselins, we could address that and how to make that work on a family budget.

It might be interesting to discuss child safety issues in today's society. Issues such as internet safety, playing outside, walking to school, etc. Things have changed so much since I was a child. I am a teacher, and most of my students never see the light of day - they are indoors all the time. We could also discuss the prevalence of child extracurricular activities and their effect on child/family development. These same students seem to be involved with 50 different sports and clubs, and have games as late as 9:30 at night. How would a family such as the Gosselins balance such a schedule and is it healthy?

I don't know. Both of those sound lame to me. But I'll keep thinking.

Seriously, you made me laugh out loud. And I like the concept of coming up with a "mission." It will add to our internet cred!

These are both interesting to me. Kate's emphasis on organic is actually one of the things I admire about her. I am kind of hit or miss myself. I'd be interested to hear what others are doing.

I cannot agree enough about the extracurricular activities. When I hear about the schedules of my friends who have kids in sports I am so grateful that I have one child who was not the athletic type (hope that doesn't sound too bad!)

I'm with you on the over-scheduling thing.

My fifth-grader has daily homework and is involved in one extra-curricular activity. We are contemplating adding another one but we are hesitant. I like us to have family dinners and having kids being over-scheduled in activities is sometimes prohibitive of that.

I've also got both of them doing some chores around the house. I read a good article about how having kids do household chores is AS important to teaching kids teamwork as being on a sports team.

So I'd be interested in discussing that as it relates to the Gs. How do you handle the schedule and the possibility of diverse interests and abilities?

I too wonder, now with the multitude of Blogs seeking "truth" how long will they take to just disappear. I mean, how much could PennMommy write that she obviously knows nothing about? When she closed her blog for comments it went from 169 comments down to 15. People don't care if they don't feel they could comment & question about it. Also on GWOP. Comments went from being in the 100+ to under 50. Is it possible that saying the same thing over and over is finally getting tiring to the readers?

A survey poll could be about finally having enough multiple "truth" sites. An off topic idea could be related to how you would handle camera's showing YOUR lives. Sadly Kate has nothing on me in the "Lordy Be" department! (lol)

Um, you can still comment you know. You missed her point about closing comments. She wanted the GWoP-v-GDNNOP to play out in her blog. I side with you all on the point of people not being horrible to Kate and Jon but why lie about other bloggers? I'm sorry but I don't have a problem that she closed the blog to stop the fight between us and GWoP. Just my opinion. I want to hope that we are able to be taken seriously. Why are you treating her like it's unfair to close a blog to comments when this blog is the same.

No no let me explain. I was not upset at all that she closed her comments. This thing would have gone on forever. I was making the comparison that while on every post on GWOP the comment section was getting smaller, it doubled over at Penn Mommys blog BECAUSE she allowed it to get as far as it did. I am aware that she opened back up the comments, but she now has made it very clear that she is deleting more than shes posting, hence, you are getting the same filtered comments there just like over at GWOP.

Here's another topic of discussion - the comparison of the Gosselins to the Duggars. I've never fully understood how the general opinion seems to be that one family is vastly superior to the other, when it's almost comparing apples to oranges.

I'm also curious why it's OK to have one of your children raise another child - isn't that equally as worrying as some of the complaints against the Gosselins?

Personally, I can see both sides on this one. (Depending on how much "raising" the older sibling has to do.) I think it's an thougtful topic that could provide some interesting and respectful debate.

How about topics which comments refrain from referencing what has been said elsewhere (if we are discussing this week's episode, the comments are our own opinions about the show - not what's being said "over there"?

I was actually going to suggest the opposite - something along the lines of "absurd anti-Gosselin comments". They would not necessarily have to be from GWoP, but I'm sure that's where many are to be found. I'm inspired by hilarious comments that have been brought over to the Princess Marie Chantal site from GWoP - in particular, some posters who are warning of the dangers of taking kids on vacation too often (apparently, it means you'll grow up to be someone who doesn't want to go anywhere. Also, you'll probably end up divorced). Also, waxing rhapsodic about childhood visits to the dump. I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried.

She has not made that clear at all. She even left oppositions comments in the locked entries.

There was a comment in here to about her not saying she didn't know with regard to Beth and Kate's friendship but she wrote this.
I really hate to speculate. See, that's just it: part of the reason I don't answer some of these questions is because I don't want to give out wrong information. Beth is a wonderful lady. She's also very generous. Beyond that, it's not my story to share. If Beth wanted to post here, then she is welcome. But, I doubt she will say anything negative about Jon or Kate because she helped them write their book. Saying anything negative would undermine the book's premise.

She says she doesn't know clear as a bell. How can we be taken as serious people when the jumping to conclusions thing is the normal comment.
I don't like GWoP. Its why I came here to read. I think they do moderate comments keeping some people from getting their words out. I like it here. But PennMommy isn't bad either. She does not post the horrible stories people on GWoP make about the kids. I thought her answering our questions was more in the spirit of a truth then Julie's blog. I don't like how Julie blogjacked. Good morning to everyone.

If you want to talk about other people and their opinions, then Princess Chantal is a good place to keep conversation like that.

If this site gets dinged for supposed "balanced" discussion, it is because there is a lot of time wasted time talking about other people's (meaning other sites) opinion. There is enough variety of direct comments here to have intelligent, polite, dignified discussion. I am tired of the name calling.
