I will have to say that I was more interested in the article about Brad and Angie wanting another set of twins now.

Ugh. Enough with the memories.

I guess they're not aloud to dress themselves on filming days?

I can't believe (I guess I can) all the awful comments people make. I wonder how many of them continue to post under different names.

Why do people get so upset about dressing them alike? I've seen lots of epis where they are not dressed alike at all. Is this an individuality thing? What is it with the clothes thing? I guess I don't see what the big deal is. If they were 10, maybe. Look at the twins, they dress very differently and then on some occasions dress the same.

Am I the only one who just doesn't think this is such a big deal?

Okay, done ranting. Rufus, I'm not trying to pick on you by any means. Just asking what bothers you about it, that's all.

It doesn't bother me that the six dress alike. I don't really care. If I were Cara or Mady, it would bother me when I'm forced to dress like my 4 year old sisters though.

In any case, my point ("I guess they're not aloud to dress themselves on filming days?") was more about the lack of truthfulness (is that a word?) from Kate. Even on the rare ocassions that we see them in different outfits from each other, they are relatively the same. A t-shirt and jeans, for example. If they're picking out their own clothes now, it must have started very recently as those episodes haven't aired yet.

Me too Nina!

I think the dressing alike showcases the clothing pretty well.

Maybe Gymboree prefers it.

Honestly, how they dress is the least of my concerns!

I could only get through to the 3rd page of comments and that was enough. I had to stop after the comment that a couple of her kids looked like they had down syndrome and she should get that checked out. What in the hell is wrong with people. I also wonder how many of the comments are from the same whack job that bombed that other site with different names?

Hate Kate if you will, but don't attack those innocent children.

I have a bad taste in my mouth now.

Nina,

There was an article in US Weekly that had a photo of Kate, Hannah and Joel shopping for toys in November at Memphis for the St Jude episode. The photo had Hannah front center and I am surprised that has not been jumped on yet.

The comments below the article are repulsive. Taffy anyone?

Anya@IW said...

Nina, you are funny! On a sort of related topic, I can't wait to see the new Brad Pitt movie (Benjamin Button?) that's opening on Xmas.

Onto the article, I thought Kate was pretty modest and low-key. Not a whole lot of new information other than the dressing comment. I have to say, IMO, all three of the little girls have pretty strong personalities and I think Kate will have to give up control on dressinig them alike pretty soon, so she might as well get used to it!

Thanks for those who alerted us on the comments. I ignored them and am much happier for it. Not a shred of intelligence or insight was missed, I am sure.

Thanks for heads-up on the US Weekly photo, Monica.

One of the commenters actually said "The authorities need to step up to investigate. Help them. Please do something". Another hoped the kids would put them in the crappiest nursing home available when they realize how exploited they have been. These people are sick and I agree they are all from GWOP and repeat posters.

I read the article then some of the comments. I had to stop after a few comments because I was sad.

People talk about how the kids will be picked on in school because of the show. Well, that's possible. But I think the kids will be even more hurt by the cruel statements that are said about them in the comment sections.

I'll just say this once and get off my soap box. I work with children and families as my occupation. In almost every case, the best thing you can do for a child is to help nurture the relationship between them and their parents. Sometimes I see the mean comments about Jon and Kate on other blogs (this is not to be confused with genuine discussion) and it breaks my heart. I picture Collin someday finding archives and reading what some people have said about his mom and dad...and it saddens me :(

Andie said...

They are dressed alike when they go out. It's likely a safety measure. It is easier to spot 6 kids or one loose child when you've dressed them all a like than try to remember what each kid had on.

People in the comments are disgusting and in reality being on camera is not harming the kids, it's the crazy watchers who are the problem. I mean really how can you talk smack about a 4-year-old and still sleep at night?

Andie said...

Bridget,
I absolutely agree with you, but I honestly think the the kids being "picked on" later in life has been heavily over dramatized. Is it possible that they will be picked on because of the show? Maybe, maybe not. It's just as likely that they will be picked on for being short, tall, skinny, fat or any number of things that kids come up with.

There are so many people talking bad about Kate and Jon out of "concern" for the kids. They are creating the problem they seem to be so "worried" about. It's ridiculous. I'm seriously concerned for Cara and Mady they are getting to the age where they will start browsing the web and they will likely run across the negativity fairly soon and I find that sad. I don't blame their parents at all, the show is just that a show. It's the people who have gone to such an extreme to bring negativity to what was supposed to be a nice family show who will cause those poor kids pain and suffering.

Nina, I had to click to go back because I missed that about Angelina. I don't follow them, but can't help but hear. In the pics I've seen of her it seems like she's just wasting away, hard to believe she'd put her body through more. I have seen her name touted on other boards in comparison to Kate. I think it's hilarious. If I had to pick one for my own mom, it'd definitely be Kate.

I have notice the kids not dressed alike before, I think it's on the Mr. Mom episode. If I was Kate, I would be dressing all mine alike until they could pick out and sort their own. I can't imagine sorting out that many similar clothes (or if she has volunteers or help, asking them to do it). I would definitely be army style is some of my parenting. Since I weighed in on that. As far as sippy cups. I discovered tupperware made lids for the tumblers when mine were about 5 – 6yo. I was ecstatic. They are the most practical things and prevent a lot of mess.

I only read a couple of the comments. Enough to know if I read more, it would ruin my holiday mood.

Aw, don't be hating on Angelina; I love her. Actually, if I had to choose which family to join, it would be a difficult choice for me. Alexis or Zahara? Don't make me choose! They are both sooo cute!

I didn't even bother with the comments; those people never have anything new or interesting to say, and I agree that the majority of the posts are probably from a few posters posting under a bunch of different names. Crazier than bessie bugs, as a friend of mine says.

I would be more concerned about the matching outfits if I saw other evidence that the sextuplets were not treated as individuals. I really don't think that's the case.

merryway said...

Guin, No, I don't mean to be hating on Angelina. I applaud her good works and her adoptions. I was interested in some of her oddities after seeing her act, she was so good in Girl Interrupted. Other than that, Brangelina is white noise to me. It's the comparisons that I find hilarious as they are without any regard to the bar to which they hold up Kate. The two have such different pasts and I can't imagine the comments if Kate had lived Angelina's life before giving birth to the tups.

Guinevere said...

Merryway, I was just teasing you. And making fun of my own Angelina-fangirlishness. As Alexis might say, "she's so pretty!"

But yes, I can't really imagine two people less alike than Angie and Kate. Let's see: tattoos, multiple kids, Asian kids...hmmm...well, they are both carbon-based life forms. Um, I think that's about it.

Do you really think they clip coupons anymore? That is the type of stuff I think it mumbo jumbo. Yes, they make alot of money..how they make is hotly debated, but, yes, they have alot of it. Please don't insult the viewers with money saving tips and such. The other thing..in another article Kate says people believe they have "hollywood lives" and that isn't true. Then, in this article she talks about being a celebrity. Which is it? Are they just a regular family or are they celebrities? I honestly think they want their cake and eat it too. They want to be famous and have wealth ( can't blame them), but, then, they want people to look at them as an average family, have privacy, etc. You can't have both!

Andie said...

Erin,
When you reach a certain tax bracket they don't take away your coupons. They might still cut coupons and if they do it's a smart decision. Everyone, no matter how much money they are assumed to make, can benefit from saving money.

I know a number of people who are very comfortable and they still use coupons. I find it perfectly believable. As for their money-saving tips I don't see a problem with them at all. They didn't always have money and the tips they share with people are still applicable and can be useful to people who are not in their position

I meant to grab this last night, but had a headache and crashed. This is one of the things I have been repeatedly impressed with about Kate. I think she does it naturally, making it seem easy and doesn't get enough credit for it. She seems to know her children's personalities very well. I've seen moms who love their kids all to pieces, but seem to be missing the capacity to tune in like she does.

Andrea-
I understand they take away their coupons when you enter a new tax bracket. These people are not saying "this is what we used to do when we didn't have money" They are claiming that they use them now. And, no, I don't think they do. I think it is a way for the common viewer to relate to them. It's all PR. JMO

Andie said...

you don't know if they use them or not. What I'm saying is I don't find out of the realm of possibility that they still do. I personally know plenty of people who are extremely well-off who still use coupons, was my point. Don't assume just because someone has money (in the Gosselin's csae it's all heresay as to how much they make or get for the show) that they don't use money saving tips.

Me too. I have sisters with money and they clip coupons. Actually, I have teased them with, "So THAT'S how the rich stay rich!" :)

lulubae said...

With regards to the coupon issue. I really think she probably does still use them. Just because they have more money doesn't mean now they are all about spending spending spending. In fact, so many people have commented about how much of a cheapskate she is and such and that is not behavior that is erased over night. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if now Kate has more fear in the back of her mind, that it could all go away soon so she needs to be even wiser with the money now than before. Maybe that's why she's taking on more "roles" (spokesperson, books, etc) in order to create more sense of financial security for the family.

You ever notice how many rich people stay rich? They stay that way because they are smart about how they spend. Being rich doesn't mean spend it all and splurge all the time. The rich people that tend to do that or assume they will always have it are the ones filing for bankruptcy.

Guinevere said...

I'm curious if there are any studies about who uses coupons and how (or if) it relates to their economic status. I really see clipping coupons as a sign of thriftiness, which I tend to think of as an inborn trait (one I wish I'd been born with!), and not really having much to do with one's financial status. Knowing Kate (well, "knowing" Kate), I can well believe that she is thrifty and clips coupons and uses them.

Saint - there's a whole book based on things like this called the Millionaire Next Door.

With regard to Kate using coupons, why would she even need them? Food comes from Kraft Services and clothes are free. I know I would love buy whatever I wanted at Ann Taylor Loft.

Nina Bell said...

Mom of 2

There are coupons for more than just food. I doubt very much that every meal is provided for by Kraft Services. My husband and I make a very good living and we still use coupons all of the time.

Anonymous said...

I mentioned something else, clothing for one. They don't pay for anything. Even Christmas gifts are given to them from complete strangers.

Nina Bell said...

So you are saying all of their food and clothing are provided for them? I think you are reaching here.

I like the idiot that claims that the kids are "grossly underdeveloped." WHAT? SERIOUSLY?

It's sad and pathetic what these losers have stooped to in their quest to bring down a family that they don't even know (and hopefully will never get close enough to get to know).
