Hawaii Here We Come
Jon and Kate and all eight kids are off to see the beauty of Hawaii. But before they leave for the land of sun, there's much to be done! In addition to packing for a family ten, Kate must also find the perfect dress for her renewal of vows ceremony.

Does anyone know when Kate's "Say Yes To The Dress" will air again?

Dina said...

Good question, I was wondering the same thing. I totally forgot about it the nigh it aired. I would LOVE to see it.

I'm wondering why Kate and the kids were all dressed up and Jon had on everyday cargo pants.

I could be wrong but they might just be nice khaki colored dress pants. Too lazy to whip out the people mag article and look for myself. :)

I'd also like to see the "Say Yes To The Dress" episode when it's on again.

I think the cargo pants issue was brought up before and while nothing was determined conclusively, some people mentioned that it perhaps wasn't a particularly formal wedding; Kate wore what she wanted to and Jon wore what he wanted to (uh, probably with Kate's approval). I think for a second marriage on a beach in Hawaii, it's fine.

Guinevere said...

Um, I didn't mean "second marriage" exactly; "vow renewal" is the correct term, I guess.

I am excited to see this one. The pics in People mag were just gorgeous. The kids looked precious and Jon and Kate looked very happy.

I truly am happy for them that they've been able to stay together through all the drama. Some marriages break under much less pressure.

I saw it! My daughter was so excited to see it, but she fell asleep before Kate came on. It was pretty boring. Kate was nice and normal and her hair looked good.
She tried on a couple of dresses that she liked but didn't ask them to combine them. I think the one she chose was just altered to be more like the other one.

I was kinda hoping for a surprise Beth appearance, though. I think she just decided she didn't like being on camera. Anyway, that's what I'm believing until we hear differently. From a "reliable" source of course.

Shouldn't the Lego show be on tonight? The description of that show said that ON THE WAY TO HAWAII for the vow renewal the Gosselins stop at Legoland and the San Diego Zoo.

Have they changed plans now and decided to put the renewal on before that lego show? If so that's kind of dumb.

I am sure you are right. The title of the show is "Hawaii Here We Come". I was pretty sure it would be about the stop in San Diego but since they had Hawaii in the title I just put that picture up.

Nina Bell said...

I looked at TLC,

This week it appears they are getting ready for the trip. Next week is the San Diego portion with Lego Land. The following week appears to be the first part of the Hawaii portion. It looks like the actual renewal does not take place for about 4 weeks. At least from what I can tell.

kikibee, I'm with you on waiting for reliable information. There is a new poster on one of the forums I read and she is coming forward with all this "inside" information and presenting it in a way that says "I know all this stuff intimately and positively", but of course, no name and no source of where the info came from. Personally, I am sick of people coming forward with the same old rehashed information we have heard before and presenting it as new info that they have privy to. After PennMommy, I don't believe anyone who comes forward saying they "know" anything. After asking this poster where she got her info several times, she doesn't respond, just keeps on criticizing and giving out names of her sisters and parents -- things that are already out there, nothing new.

How many episodes can we watch of this family packing for a trip?
It's sounds a bit boring to me.

"I'm wondering why Kate and the kids were all dressed up and Jon had on everyday cargo pants."

Haven't seen the episode, but if you are referring to what they where in the vow renewal, many folks who go to Hawaii dress that way for a wedding.

My sister got married (not a renewal) and her hubby-2-be wore Khakis and a white Hawaiian shirt. She wore a traditional wedding gown. I made her wear sneakers for the hike down the cliff and then she changed to her wedding flip flops.

Not sure why Jon got flack for this after the published photos--but very common for folks doing a tropical theme wedding for the groom to don a more casual attire while the bride opts for some form of a gown. Hawaii on the beach isn't exactly a black tie event.

Anonymous said...

Also wanted to mention that when we went to Hawaii for 2 weeks for the wedding...

We did see many folks dressed formally. Admittedly, it was all the weddings of couples from Japan. Those were the only ones we saw in tuxes and ultra formal wedding gowns.

Just in case folks point out that not everyone goes casual in Hawaii.

Interesting episode..now I want to go back to Hawaii. :)

Interesting note--I consider myself a bipartisan observer of this show. :)

I noticed they had a credit for a Teleprompter operator in this episode. I found that extremely odd.

I think this show is getting back to its "roots"--showing the enjoyment of the family and general parenting things.

I wish that the assumption was that this is just for the cameras.

well I messed up my comments, my last sentence about assumptions about this being for the cameras should have read:

I wish the assumptions that this is all just for the cameras would stop.

Uh Oh, Kate gave the twins pedicures and didn't go to a spa. What will people complain about now? I did enjoy seeing Kate giving alot more attention and love to the children. Especially Joel. I'm just happy it's not me packing for 10 people. Yikes!!!!!

I liked this episode. The kids were really cute. I liked Hannah asking if the bus was allowed to park in the driveway. The little ones are getting so verbal!

Unknown said...

Hey Duct Tape - Kate was wearing your shirt!

I am convinced - when Jon and Kate are on the couch and one of them says something (mostly Kate) and they then look at each other.... it's a lie! :)

I loved the school picture of Jon - too bad they show one of Kate!

Samantha@IW said...

Kate was a lot more peppy than usual, she was constantly playing with the kids. It was nice to see her goofy side- It makes me wonder how much of the fun side of Kate winds up on the cutting room floor. Also, it looks like Jon's hair is coming in nicely!

cincymom said...

I think Kate did get Botox on her forehead, because she has always had a deep vertical line between her eyebrows everytime she gestures with her face, and now, no line!

(not that it matters in the big scheme of things).

Also, I think Jenny is being marginalized. When someone is interacting so much with your kids, it seems weird not to humanize her a bit more for the cameras. She seems to be barely acknowledged by the parents. Maybe they are normal to her but have instructed the cameras to minimize her involvement. But she IS involved, so that is weird and looks weird too.

SamanthaNC said "Also, it looks like Jon's hair is coming in nicely!"

Ha, I was totally thinking this too! It has really filled out! It was the first time since the actual hair transplant episode that I had noticed it.

I really liked this episode. The kids were cute, Jon and Kate were calm and normal, and there was no drama. My mom never did "girly" things with me (like the pedicures) but I do them with my niece and she really likes it. I think the girls really seemed to as well. And Kate on the floor rolling around with the kids was nice too. All around a decent episode.

erin said...

Also, there appear to be two Erins now, I have no picture. I'm not that computer savvy.

Anya@IW said...

I enjoyed the pedicures too. Mady may not have enjoyed all parts of it, but I think she will remember these moments. There is something very sweet and nurturing about your mom at your feet giving you a home pedicure. And the fact is - these are moments they probably wouldn't have if Kate were working a 40 hour week outside the home.

I loved my girl Alexis! First one up in the morning? Jon's "partner in crime." Carrying her alligators around with her....

I too also enjoyed hearing the sextuplets talk more. Loved the boys discussing if they could put on their shoes, etc.

All and all, a sweet and enjoyable episode for me.

Jon was wearing pants in the People magazine article. And flip flops. Boys were wearing shirts and Hawaiian shirts. Pretty typical for Hawaiian fare. If anything I think her dress was probably more formal than any one else there.

"Haven't seen the episode, but if you are referring to what they where in the vow renewal, many folks who go to Hawaii dress that way for a wedding."

Yeah; my cousin got married on the beach last year (not in Hawaii, but nonetheless) and she wore a dress very similar to Kate's while the groom wore khakis and a Hawaiian shirt. They were both barefoot as well. It was great.

Loved this episode. Cant wait to see next weeks episode. :)

This is the first time in a long time that Kate seemed genuinely happy and calm. I guess that's what happens when your headed for Hawaii.

The kids all seemed good. Loved they showed Joel more.

Well they will call it damage control, of course.

Anya@IW said...

I too thought it was very sweet that Joel was being fussed over.

Fiona, yes, damage control is mentioned around 5,814 times over there.

Also, many complaints that the Gosselins got a free trip and they (the posters) didn't. I feel like sending them all back to Kindergarten to learn a very basic lesson - life isn't "fair." Oh yeah, and news flash, we live in a capalist society and are surrounded by marketing whereever we go. This is isn't exactly a new phenomenon.

I (and others) have said it many times on this board - the very fact that you/we have an internet connection and the free time to discuss a television show proves that we are better off than about 98% of the world. Be grateful for what you have and stop worrying about "freebies." Trust me - your life will be happier free of envy.

MoreCowbell said...

Crap. I missed it and couldn't keep my eyes open for the second broadcast. I'll have to look for a rebroadcast time.

I'm sure the heads of the "advocates" will be randomly exploding the next few weeks if this is being dragged on for a few episodes. I can just see them typing "FREEBIES!!!!!" as their faces turn purple with misplaced rage as the Gosselins get treated to San Diego and Hawaii's most popular destination sites. I think I might enjoy the schadenfreude! Heh-heh-heh.

Anya,

Did you see how excited Alexis gets in the previews for the wild animal park in San Diego (Escondido) when they bring an alligator out? Loved it.......

OMG! I laughed out loud at your post, but I have to admit that I had to look up ....

Main Entry:
scha·den·freu·de

Pronunciation:
\ˈshä-dən-ˌfrȯi-də\

Function:
noun

Usage:
often capitalized

Etymology:
German, from Schaden damage + Freude joy

Date:
1895

"enjoyment obtained from the troubles of others"

Perhaps our Gwoppers might also be referred to as Schadenfreuders.

Are you are kidding!? No, I didn't see that, but I can't wait for my girl to see her beloved alligators!

The San Diego trip actually sounds like it might be the most fun part of the trip for the little kids. They all seem very interested in animals....

Anya, you'll have to share "your girl Alexis" with me! I love her to pieces. She's just so... out there, LOL! I got the impression from what J&K said about her that no parent wants to sit with her on a plane because she's not quiet and wants to use the bathroom constantly. I'd sit with her!!
That was too funny when Alexis said "Daddy says he got me a seat on the toilet!"
Good show. Not too much to snark about.

Ok, I guess we will have to work out some sort of custody arrangement! LOL. I thought the same thing as you - I'll sit with her. Somebody on the other board said it will probably be Jenny that ends up sitting with her and I had to agree that will probably be the case.

I loved Jon's comment about the toilet too. And I know some people are going to say these type of comments are mean coming from the parents, but in small doses, I think they are very "real" and actually show some love and appreciation for their children's individuality....

You, Dotsicle and I may need to do rock, paper, scissors. LOL!

Seems to me I remember Guinevere is pretty fond of Alexis too....

Of course, it goes without saying, they ALL are extremely charming and cute.

Well, I'm looking forward to the San Diego portion of this trip.

I lived in San Diego for five years and the places that the G's are going are all really amazing. Legoland is lots of fun, but the San Diego Zoo and it's Wild Animal Park are top notch...some of the best zoo facilities in the world.

I'm not sure if they're going to the SD Zoo also...the Wild Animal Park that they showed in previews is in a separate location, far from the zoo itself...but it would be a pity to miss it. We had annual passes when we lived there and went about once a month...my son was a toddler and quick, half-day trips were best.

I imagine the Gosselin kids will go crazy for the Wild Animal Park. The safari is great and they offer one-on-one experiences with many of the animals (Alexis' aldergator). It's like an African savannah out there though in August...HOT...many miles in from the ocean.

Oh, and I think I've picked up a new catch phrase..."No worry beef curry"...although somehow I don't think that'll work of the Islands. Where I'm from it's more like "No sweat jamon croquette".

Anya@IW said...

Thanks for the additional information Marci. I am in the northern part of the state and I am sorry to have not made it to the San Diego zoo (yet). And I didn't really know that the Wild Animal park was separate....

How come nobody wants to give ME a free trip to San Diego? (said in my best GWoP imitation voice).

"Where I'm from it's more like "No sweat jamon croquette".

:-) Very cute....

MonicaW42 said...

I was born and raised in San Diego (North County Encinitas) and I am still a Sea World addict myself. Marci is right...It gets pretty warm out in August at Wild Animal park.

Anya,

LOL @ free trip. Now if you wanna go to the Bellagio in Vegas I have a bunch of free stuff for staying there to send your way.

Hannie can't even reach her long mane to brush it all, so it ends up just getting half brushed. They think this is cute and funny. I think it is ridiculous and not cute at all. I hope she gets lice and has to get a buzz cut

This comment was taken from Dew's recap on GWOP. She is the same person who, a few weeks ago, called Hannah 'oafish'. I think Dew dislikes Hannah so much because she thinks Hannah is Kate's favorite. And how do comments like this advocate for the kids?

Guinevere said...

Wow, Anna, how absolutely vile. What is wrong with these people? Hating a 4-year-old? Wanting her to get lice? That's not funny; it's not "snarky". It's just ugly. The fact that Hannah gets this abuse specifically because she is perceived as the favorite makes it even worse, IMO.

marci said...

Monica,

I'd almost forgotten about Sea World! We had passes for that too. Never got to do the interactive experiences, though it looked like fun.

I also was reminded about an outdoor railroad museum we went to (my son was a choo-choo fanatic at that age). It was like a two hour drive (we lived in Bonita) NE, must have been between SD and LA, but WAY out east. The trains were outside and under hangers...the place was HUGE, and they also had a working train that people could rides on. I wish I could remember the name of it, but if your (collective) kids are into trains it's a must-see.

We did Disneyland, of course. But I have to say, Disneyland seems puny next to Disney World...but I'm prejudiced. I was there before California Adventure opened though, so I'm sure that gives people more to do.

We loved SD!! Sure miss it...even the June Gloom!!

MonicaW42 said...

I don't understand people. I just finished reading that recap after reading your guy's comments and that person needs help. How is saying cruel comments to a child, Child Advocacy? Oh wait, its not. Since I do not post on the other blogs....Dew if you are reading this: Get help...NOW....

To attack a child is sick.... Sorry guys,,,this is one "recap"/ "article" that set me off.

It's childish enough to attack Kate's hair, mannerisms, etc... but to go after children is a new LOW.....

Anya@IW said...

Dew's comments about Joel: "Kate smothers Joel with kisses and tells him he's going to be a great husband. I think he will be, too, despite his mother and his dysfunctional childhood. And if he moves to certain states he can even marry another man since Jon and Kate seemed convinced he swings that way."

I have mixed feelings about even bringing this garbage over, but I think people should know what passes for humor with the GWoP "child advocates."

Anonymous said...

They write stuff like that and then invite J&K sponsors to their blog.

Go figure.
