We got a kick out of this story- She swallowed her engagement ring.
Engagements can be romantic, funny, and completely outlandish, but all thrilling nonetheless. Even if you have never been engaged yourself, ladies, do tell, what is your favorite proposal story?

I knew it was coming because I saw the outline of the ring in his pocket- so for the rest of the day I was a nervous wreck.
Everywhere we went that day, I was thinking "is he going to do it here?" He took me out to his family's property out of town. His granfather grew up there and its been in his family for generations, acres and acres. His parents have a little weekend house there and he loves it.
We were walking the property and he took me through the woods to this really hard to get to spot, I of course wasn't wearing the right shoes. I knew this spot was really special to him and I thought he was going to ask me tere- why else would he have me walking through briars? But no, he didnt ask me there- at that point I thought he had changed his mind. Dinner came and went, the ring stayed in his pocket.
Then that night we drove out on the beach and at this point I had (almost) forgotten about the ring. So we're walking along in the chilly October air and all of a sudden he gets down on one knee- Even though I knew it was coming, actually seeing him on one knee, ring in hand- it was surreal. Clearly, I said yes and I will ever forget that defining moment in our lives.
How romantic, SamanthaNC. Love to hear that men are still romantic and getting down on one knee.
oh i wish i could share a romantic story, but alas mine was not! my husband had been planning to propose at christmas. while doing his laundry one night, i found the reciept for the ring! i was so excited since he had told me for years that he would never get married. at that time i was working at a vegan restaurant to pay for college. he somehow figured out that i knew. about two weeks before christmas he came into my work. he told me that the gift he had been planning for christmas wasn't going to work out so he was just going to give me money and i could buy whatever i want. he handed me $200 and left! i was freaking out! one of the guys i worked with convinced me that if he had planned to propose and changed his mind that was not a good sign! so i went home that night and i was so upset. he kept asking me what was wrong and i would say nothing. finally i blurted out "i thought you wanted to marry me!" he looked at me (totally serious) and said "why would i do that?" and walked away. i, of course, was furious. he comes back downstairs, gets on his knee and pulls out the ring. he proposes, i punch him and call him several names i will not put on the internet :) after all that he says "so will you marry me or not?
"
LOL themrs- it may not me the romantic proposal you had in mind but its a very cute story, you must be quite a woman to sway the heart of a man who said he would never marry :)
I proposed to him.
We were spending our last weekend together before he was to deploy again. He had asked a friend of mine what my ring size is, what kind of ring she thought I'd like, etc. So I knew he was thinking of it, but I didn't know when or if it would really happen. So the morning he was leaving, I was crying (again) and I took his hand & asked him if he would do me the honor of being my husband when he came home. He hugged me & said "I was going to ask you to be my wife when I came home."
Well, we ended up getting married at the courthouse when he came home on R&R. We had a brief honeymoon before he went back.
I found out later that he was going to propose to me at the reunion ceremony in front of all the other soldiers, their families & the local news. So although it would've been really sweet, and I would've said yes, I am SO glad it didn't turn out that way!
Bella Donna-
Now, that's a love story.
I don't have a great engagement story but when I got married I only had 90 days to tie the knot due to immigration purposes so the hubby and my wedding rings didn't get to our apartment in time for our trip to Reno so I bought a cheap mood ring in the hotel gift shop and used it for the ceremony. It was a crazy few days I'll never forget and I still have the mood ring. :)
i NEVER saw it coming...short and sweet story...
he had me go on a scavenger hunt that started at our first date place and ended at a chateau!
he was amazing and wonderful, and still is!
been married now a year and 4 months...
Well, I don't have a great story to share, but I thought this was a cute story and I have enjoyed hearing everyone's own personal ones....
Mine was "by the book," including his speaking with my father. My dad offered him a ladder. Many daughters = many weddings = many bills.
Hee Saint,
My dad offered us $500 to elope. :) We didn't take it.
My guy and I picked out rings so I knew it was coming. We had plans to meet for dinner on a Saturday so I guess that he was planning to do it then. But he showed up on Friday night and asked if I wanted to go for a drive. While we were in the car, it started to pour down rain so hard that we had to pull over in a parking lot. So we are just sitting in the car and watching the rain nice and cozy, and he suddenly pulls out the ring and says, "I was going to do this tomorrow but I can't just can't wait." Awww. It was perfect.
