Triplet Connection

This is a statement that was released today on a forum called the Triplet Connection.

"At the request of Jonathan Gosselin and after a detailed conversation with him, we have removed all of his posts that he authored and some of his posted threads. Some of the threads remain where he has responded to but he did request that all of his posted pictures of his family be removed--they have. My heart goes out to this family who have found because of their unique situation, through the world of the internet and probing eyes of the media, that life can be made so miserable and scary that this becomes the result.

Both Jonathan and I thank those of you on the forum who have offered positive words of support and encouragement in the past months. It has become apparent that not all of the posters on this forum have been HOM families. Some have been members of the media that used this access for a avenue into their private lives and others who only wanted to criticize for reasons of jealousy or whatever. So as a result, all future posts regarding the Gosselin family will be removed. Jeff Bleyl"

I'm so glad that blog is no longer allowing people to bash their family. It is a shame that people find it necessary to go to every blog, article, or site in general just to spew hate towards the Gosselins. I am sure they get a lot of help and freebies from doing the show, but I just do not see where it is a big deal. I can not understand why people just can not be happy for them. If any of these people being so hateful were in their shoes, they would gladly except the help too. It is just sad that people are so caught up in ruining their lives. I have lost all respect for Aunt Jodi, her sister, and even Kate's brother for letting it all get this far. Things should be handled inside the family if there is a problem, not all over the internet.

Yay for Jon! I can't wait for the outrage to ensue from the crazies who stalked him there.

Fanny said...

I agree. I think it's appalling that Jodi or Kevin would support Julie in fueling the Kate-hate fire and possibly putting this family in danger.

Linda said...

Wow.

Do you guys think that the Gwoppers will respond with a "we're getting to them" entry or with a conspiracy theory post regarding how Jon is using his high-level connections to ...

TAKE OVER THE WORLD!

Seriously, I feel sorry for them. They must feel compromised regarding their safety.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, everything over there is a conspiracy.

If in one episode Kate acts like, well, Kate, it just fuels their speculation. If she's particularly sweet or shows some affection in another, she's only doing it because she's avidly reading that blog and doing damage control.

I don't feel sorry for Kate and Jon. I have heard no one here argue that they must have been tricked into signing on with TLC/Figure 8, and that has certainly never been brought up on the show. I have seen nothing on their TV shows to indicate either of them has lower than average intelligence and reasoning abilities. I have seen nothing to indicate they would somehow be (or have ever been) unaware of America's current "Culture of Celebrity", and the accompanying intensity of feelings that can bloom when people are constantly in the public eye.

J&K should have known the potential for craziness was there, and they should have protected themselves and their children. If they were not sure of their ability to make good decisions, they should have sought the council of friends and family, or even a lawyer, or a protection specialist such as Gavin De Becker, author of "Protecting the Gift".

Or maybe I expect too much from J&K. Maybe my standards are high based on what *I* would do, and how *I* would respond. Maybe most posters here would do exactly as J&K have done, and would continue to take actions that have stirred up such volatile passions in so many people in the past?

What would you all do? Would you hire a lawyer and get out of your TLC/Figure 8 contract, insisting that your children's safety is paramount? Would you do your darndest to fade away for a while, and then considr doing a yearly special if the security threat had diminished? Or woujld you simply never go back to TV, choosing instead to re-locate somewhere warmer, and remain as private as possible?

Who do I feel sorry for? I feel sorry for the kids, because any semi-plausible evidence of a stalker or some other type of nutjob will ensure such tight security that the kids will be even further isolated than they appear to be now.

I feel sorry for the kids because THEY had no reasonable ability to opt out and say, "No, thanks, but I'd rather not be on TV so that people I don't know start to believe they could do a beter job raising me than you guys do."

I feel sorry for the kids because no matter how hard the adults involved might try to hide the possibility or fact that a looney tune wants to "save" one or more of the kids, the kids will figure out that something is very wrong. It can't be fun to live life in a state of fear.

Sure there is a culture of celebrity.

And like you I would hope that the parents considered this in their decision-making, but I stop short of saying that somehow they asked for it.

I think that mindset emboldens those who are likely to inflict harm.

I feel bad for the parents and I feel sorry for the kids.

Yes, there is culture of celebrity, but I think the Gosselins would have needed a crystal ball to be able to anticipate how big the show would get in such a short period of time.

At this point, I don't know what I would do if I were the Gosselins. Obviously, the safety of their family must come first, but I also don't like the idea that a very small group of jealous overinvested hateful people can have any say in what the Gosselins choose to do. It may be the reality, but it does not sit well with me.

I feel for both the parents and the kids. The Gosselins have not done anything in my mind to deserve this level of vitriol. At this point, I would be surprised if Mady and Cara, at least, have not picked up on the stress their parents are under. I hope the Gosselin haters feel real good about.

No, I would hire a lawyer and a good security team to secure my family's future.

I am not a big fan of this show, but I feel for anyone that has to go through this including the major celebrities. We are not talking about signing an autograph here. If people really cared for these kids as much as they say they do they would stop right now.
Concentrate their efforts by going through proper channels and do so in a respectful non threatening way.

Linda said...

As previously stated, I'm not only concerned about an unstable person from GwoP being nudged to do something to the Gs. I'm also concerned that all of their rantings might nudge some equally unstable person to try to "save" them ... either "save" the kids from the parents or "save" the kids from the perceived threat on the internet.

bigsis88 said...

Although no one forced the Gosselins to put their family on TV, I think Figure 8/TLC deserve a hefty portion of the "blame" because they have played a major role in fueling the controversy. Some of the episodes I've watched have come off to me as one big joke being played on Jon and Kate, especially some of the couch segments. Of course, F8/TLC wants to make money and it's all about profit, the bottom line, etc., but it's one thing to acknowledge that some people view your footage negatively; it's another thing to purposely present your "stars" in the worst light possible.

The thing that disturbs me the most as I read comments from people that are trying to get the show off the air is that the underlying theme is no longer "the children are being exploited." Just about everything I read is hatred for Kate and how she screwed everyone. To me that is something that is easily taken care of by turning off the TV. Now if you truly care about the children, writing on this blog or GWoP is not going to help. There are better ways to channel your energy to so call "help the children." It doesn't appear to me that people that favor this blog are pretending to care for the children. When I visit the GWoP, well they are just in a whole different hateful atmosphere there and no one really appears to be helping any children.

Anonymous said...

Maybe I'm not seeing it correctly, but that post says it was posted in 2008, but then all of the responses are from 2005.

I think I read this before, and it was about some comments about that article saying Kate thought the government should help them and they wanted to keep the free baby nurse longer. Jon was upset that some people were commenting about the article.

It is my understanding that this was posted today and that those older dates are the dates that he had previously posted. I don't think he had commented in quite awhile on that site but he has appeared to ask for previous posts to be deleted.

"It doesn't appear to me that people that favor this blog are pretending to care for the children."

I believe you are correct. Of course, those of us who have watched all the shows "care" about the children in an abstract detached sort of way. We certainly want only good things for them, but we don't see it as our role to be an advocate for them. That's their parent's job. Nothing J&K have done that has been *verified* as fact has established that the Gosselin children need anyone to step in and overrule the decisions that have been made by their parents. (Note: that doesn't mean we agree with everything they do.)

There are plenty of non-Gosselin parenting decisions that I don't personally agree with. As an example, one of my daughter's best friend's mother keeps her on such a short leash it's insane and has the opposite effect of what she is trying to accomplish (her child is wild). You know what -- I have never said anything to her about it. It's not my place and who cares what my "opinion" is anyway? Not my kid.

How is it that perfect strangers feel they have the moral right to step in and insert themselves in a situation where they are not needed or wanted? All I can see they have done so far is quite possibly contribute to the family's overall stress level (at least the parents).

Way to advocate for the kids!!!

Linda said...

By the way, did everyone notice that their latest convert has been treated as a hero.

In fairness to her, she didn't intend on it being an entry on the GwoP blog. They linked to her post on a facebook discussion about multiples. But she is be given the full treatment.

"You are courageous."

"Hugs to you."

"You are not alone."

Oh puleeze. My word. She changed her mind about a tv show.

Linda,

When I was reading that I felt like they were all acting like what they have been referring to as "sheeple."

FGF said...

The saddest part is that the spin GWoP will put on this is one of celebration and high fiving. They blame Jon when forums close when it is actually their own actions that cause places like TWoP to shut down threads about J&K+8. The ugliness and hate is over the top and I wouldn't blame the Gosselins if they did hire body guards (or cut Kevin and Jodi out of their lives for good because of what Julie is doing). The hate has gotten to a disgusting level, and some of the things I read about GWoP posters checking tax records and trying to figure out exactly where the Gosselins are building in NC is just mind boggling.

The "cult of celebrity" excuse does not make this behavior acceptable.

Anonymous said...

It still doesn't make sense, because the 2005 posts are from other posters saying how they are sad that this is happening to Jon, and someone wished him luck on his appeal, I guess when they were trying to keep the nurse.

Here is one of the posts, she's talking about another blog that was posting his comments from Triplet Connection.

#110612, "RE: daddyof8 Posts"

Well, I gave a heads up that someone from the Berks Blog (the negative one about Jonathan) was coming to this board to obtain info. I never said anything about Faker as I am reading my original post at the moment (this is the exact reason I save everything I have posted). I said we either have a trader (traitor) or someone here who does not belong. I know this is the internet, blah blah but I wanted everyone here to know that TC was being referred to in those blogs and the a$$holes from that board were coming here and taking Jonathan's posts out of context and relaying them over there. That is NOT the purpose of this board. Anyway, my original thread was just to let everyone know and for them to take it how they wanted. Nothing more, nothing less.

I GUESS WE HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO said...

You are right, it doesn't make sense. Someone e-mailed this to me and asked if I was aware of it. I saw the date and it appeared current. I am not sure. Anybody else have an opinion about this or know anything about it?

chick said...

I went and searched the other day at TC, and all of the posts Jon had made were quite old.

Why did I go look? Because I read somewhere, maybe GWOP, that someone had found his posts. People are looking at things he posted 3 years+ ago in connection with thefamily that has just begun a show on DH. In particular, the interest in Jon's posts is due to what he says about a DIFFERENT family getting a "free" house, and that nothing's free, etc. Taxes are mentioned.

I don't know, but I think it might be linked into the (Possible? Likely? Pending?) G8 move to NC, and the belief that TLC/Figure 8 will be paying for the Gosselin's new home to be built.

It seems to me that people have dug this up in some sort of belief that what Jon said 3 years back about some other family that got a "free" house can be used against him now.

I have no idea if people are currently discussing JK8 on TC. Wasn't interested enough to look. Apparently, G8 and their activities will not be acceptable topics from now on.

Very convoluted, huh?

I totally agree with this. I can have opinions about all sorts of things, but I don't feel like I have the "right" to tell the Gosselins how to raise their kids. And though I am fond of the Gosselin children, I understand that I don't really know them IRL, and any interest or concern I have for them is not the same as I might have for people I actually see and interact with. I don't know if some of the more fervent GWoP posters really get that.

I understand someone saying that they don't feel for J&K, but I don't like blame for the inappropriate behavior to be shifted. You may think that J&K should have known what they were getting into (I disagree, to a degree, anyway). But the people who stalk and harrass are still responsible for their own behavior - it's not like J&K are making them do it, or like it's an inevitable consequence of celebrity. These people are still making a choice, and they are responsible for it, not J&K.

Regarding people being called "courageous" over at GWoP - I think I'm going to be sick. Has that word been totally devalued? Yeah, here we have: Harriet Tubman, Raul Wallenberg, Rosa Parks and...someone who decided that they didn't like Jon and Kate Gosselin after initially thinking they did. Crazy. Those people are crazy. Yeah, I said it, and I'm not taking it back.

chick said...

bigsis88, I think that TLC and Figure 8 know that their portrayal of Kate as a nasty harridan has seriously backfired. In recent episodes, she has either not been as...highstrung when cameras were on, or editing has worked quite hard to soften her up.

I can't remember the last time she slapped Jon in the face, so SOMETHING is different.

Frankly, Current Kate reminds me of Original Kate, who I rather liked, partly because I could sympathize with her need for order in chaos, and partly because she seemed, dare I say it, normal.

Second Stage Kate made me cringe. Her temper, her treatment of her husband, her OCD cleanliness obsession, and the way she treated people who she relied on to help her (laundry helpers, Jodi and Kevin, etc.) made me wonder what the hell was wrong with her, and whether she did actually need some sort of intervention, lol!

As time goes by, and people react more and more strongly to Kate, Jon, and the whole family, the less "real" the show will become. Will that help? Of course not. People with an axe to grind will keep setting off sparks of outrage.

Sorry to burst the bubble, but that mod has the date of his post default to always a current date. Go back ina few days and the date of the mods post saying he is deleting everything will have changed again.

This was originally posted in 2005 and all the comments and responses that follow show the original date it was posted, over three years ago.

Old news.

I GUESS WE HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO said...

I don't think there was a "bubble". Just a topic to discuss.

Anonymous said...

How do you explain what "chick" said above about seeing his posts there a couple of days ago?

Anonymous said...

The bubble was "Yay for Jon!" and the misconception that Jon has control over forums of late or simply that this was a recent event. Jon hasnt had control in years. Highlighting this only proves controversy follows them and has followed them for years. In this case it was merely a fellow poster on a message board he frequented who questioned inconsistencies in their story. How dare that parent of triplets! Who did they think they were? Certainly not parents of GG twins and BBB GGG sextuplets!

Do a search on all posts from "daddyof8" over there. There are a few left, ones he made after his request that they all be deleted because he just couldn't stay away. Almost every one of them are condescending, his anger and jealousy overflowing even back then, no one has it harder, no one deserves more, no one understands, no one can compare them to anyone else because others may have triplets but he has sextuplets so his woes trump every body else in the whole wide world. No mean internet sites had a hand in that one. He alone burned that bridge and has no one to blame but himself for what went on then and there. He was arrogant there long before anyone else pegged him as such so publicly.

One has to wonder though, what was he so afraid of by leaving his words up? This was not long after the first special, probably about the time Discovery Health/Figure 8 came knocking a little louder and maybe he worried his diatribes would come back to haunt him. People with nothing to hide hide nothing. Unfortunately for them, a little thing called the Wayback Machine exists and all of it can still be found and much of it directly contradicts what they would have the public believe now.

Anon @ 8:14: They were confused, right along with everyone else who's only now seeing this for the first time. It IS confusing. The date of the mods announcing he was removing the posts is showing up as 8/16/08. This thread and issue has been cited many, many times in the past months - years and you could probably find posts regarding it elsewhere dated well before 8/16 discussing it. Do like I said; bookmark it and go back in a week or two and the date will have again changed from 8/16 to a more recent date.

Guinevere said...

Forgive me, but I for one have no idea what you're talking about. Jon has "control over forums"? What kind of control over what forums? I'm confused. I've heard anti-Gosselin posters talk about Jon either posting online at various forums or harrassing people online, but I haven't seen any evidence that any of it is true. How are we to even know that a person claiming to be Jon Gosselin online actually was him?

bigsis88 said...

Chick,
I agree with your entire post. I think TLC's efforts to "up the drama" backfired and now they are trying to backtrack and "rewrite" Kate's personality, but it's too late. In this day of TiVo, blogs, and other technology, unfavorable scenes can be replayed over and over again, so it will be difficult to sway the minds of viewers who perceive Kate negatively.

I GUESS WE HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO said...

My apologies if the above article is dated. I personally am not going to take the time to reseach this. This blog is simply that, a blog. It is for discussion purposes only. I will let this stand as it is because we have comments already. I really am sorry if anyone had their bubble burst today. E-mail me and maybe I can send you some bubble repair or possibly a new bubble.

I for one do not feel that people who do not like the Gosselins are jealous. There are people who like the Gosselins and who do not. The extremes are what bother me. I am not particularly fond of them, however what I oppose is people who are radical with their beliefs and pursue actions that are to no ones benifit.

I think we sometimes forget that not everyone who watches the show posts on pro- or anti-Gosselin blogs. There is an assumption that there is this HUGE controversy around the Gosselins that all viewers, or even most viewers, are aware of, and I really don't know that that is the case.

E-mail me and maybe I can send you some bubble repair or possibly a new bubble.

Hee. I want an 8,000 sq. ft. bubble. In North Carolina. It's not fair that the Gosselins get one and I don't!

No, not "anybody" who doesn't like the Gosselins gets accused of jealousy. But if you complain at length about "freebies", carp about how you preferred when Kate was clipping coupons and how you can no longer relate to the family, bitch about the trips that they take and the house they may or may not be building and say things like, "I can't afford to take my kids to x place" - guess what? You are jealous! You're pretty much a textbook example of the word.

i think jon and kate are just trying to control whatever they can as far as their output goes.

they're at a point now where they are their own worst enemies, and they're trying to tighten up all the things they say -- and have previous said -- that can be used against them.

in the end, though, i think they're ultimately digging their own grave, either way.

shrug. i just like watching the kids be cute.

Fanny said...

I dunno that I believe j+k are being different to repair their image. I think that when someone wants to see the bad they will see it even if they have to look past the good.

No matter what they say, they will be "digging their own grave" as far as the haters are concerned. The people who don't like them will twist their words into whatever they want and there is nothing Kate or Jon can do about it except stop talking.

Kate could be the nicest person in the world, say fake thank yous and be someone else on camera entirely and no one would know the difference.

I'm a member of Triplet Connection (as a mother of triplets myself). That thread is indeed from 2005. His pictures and most of his posts were removed at that time. Why it was "released" again now I have no clue, but to my knowledge Jon has not posted since then. It is true that any thread about the Gosselins, even to say "did anyone see the show tonight?" is removed almost immediately.

I'm rather amused at the whole choosing of sides and namecalling and whatnot.

Kat,
If you post at GWoP, they wouldn't call you a Sheeple. They only apply that name to people who have anything positive to say about the family.

TwinMom said...

I am a little confused about why people believe that TLC is building them a house. OK, this is the truth: I have a family member who works for the company that owns TLC. I just went downstairs and showed that person this 'stuff'. The response? "No, that is totally incorrect. TLC would never buy anyone a house or a car or anything else. TLC does not create this show. They broadcast the show on their channel." Further comment: "Look these people are paid to do this show. It's like any business in life. The people who film and produce this show are making money on it. Why shouldn't the family? They took their earnings and are building a house in North Carolina." Now, I knew all of this but I wanted to confirm it from one who knows. Trust me. This person is in a position to know what goes on re what the parent company does and does not do. So the Gosselins are building a house in NC. Big deal. Many of us have built houses or purchased homes with money we have earned. Why should they be denied the same privilege? Their house IS too small for 10 people. Give me a break. Give them a break for wanting to improve the lives of their kids by giving them more space and a lot of land to enjoy. By many standards what they are talking about building is not a mansion. Many family homes are large these days, especially when we move to less expensive areas. Property in New York would be much more expensive than property in North Carolina. Or PA Or MD or
any number of other states in the country.
I am telling the truth and have no reason to do otherwise. I have nothing invested in this show. I don't know the family or the production company that films and edits this show. But I do know the parent company and I do know that the one person who would know if TLC is paying for a house is sitting in my family room right now and says that is complete BS.
