She would a good guest. They both have played characters named Kate who are Mothers of large families.

So, this is a silly question, but when did Bonnie Hunt get a talk show? Isn't she the actress that shows up in lifetime movies?

______________

She's had the talk show for a couple of months. Before that, she was in several sitcoms, the last of which cast her as a busy mother with a talk show! She's also been in the "Cheaper by the Dozen" flicks.

I like her best when she's on Letterman. They're old collaborators and buddies, and she's affectionately sassy with him. He needs that sort of treatment: he's a smart-mouthed guy sometimes! :)

Off Topic-but I loved how Michelle Duggar explained gender roles. Seems like they ask her tougher questions than Jon and Kate.

I like the show, and don't have a problem with them living a conservative Christian life.

But I did notice Jim Bob flashing the scrubbing bubbles around....LOL!

Can't imagine the comments that will generate.

Hey Nina,

How about a DDNNP site?

I thought it was a nice interview. Kate seemed really down to earth and comfortable with Bonnie Hunt.

I do have to agree with Fiona that the Duggars seem to get much harder questions then the Gosselins do on the shows.

Any guesses how many haters fired off letters of protest to Bonnie Hunt and the fact that guest audience members got $50 gift cards to Kmart and they gave out the Vtech systems? I did like Bonnie's comment how people can relate in seeing a back and forth relationship with her and Jon. So not everyone sees the love taps as abuse. Like I said before, I would be on death row for love taps.

Monica, my husband would be on death row if he ever gave me a love tap. I don't believe in that slapping is love. But I guess some people don't mind it.

I thought that the gifts to the audience were great! Who could find anything wrong with that?! Well, I guess some folks find fault with everything.....

I caught that too! "Some cleaners are hard on tubs, but insert product placement blah, blah, blah."

I have said it before with the complaining about the product placements on the Gosselins show - get used to it. I think that advertisers are aware that an ever growing % of the population has DVR's and zips through commercials. They are going to continue to find ways to advertise their products that we can't avoid....

Believing that the Gosselins or Duggars are somehow responsible for this trend is just silly.

Dotsicle,

I am the one that does the love tapping. And I don't thunk on or in the head. I do have a habit of slapping his thigh though or his butt. So head play is out in our house. Now pillow fights......that's a whole other ballgame.... :)

monicaw42 LOL death row!

I told momforthekids the other day that if she considers love taps assault I should be UNDER the jail!

Samantha,

I'm serious.... Some people get waaaay to bent over the play slap thing. And I know my "love taps" are a habit. I'm just guessing that Kate's are to. Everyone has their quirks and habits. Kinda like when your husband puts the toilet paper roll on the wrong way aftr 13 years of marriage and you just wanna drag em by the ear into the bathroom and say "are you kidding me?"

Good job in pointing that out to her. I just shook my head when reading all of those comments. LOL

The ironic part is that both Bonnie Hunt and Steve Martin, neither of whom have children, are by Hollywood standards, the go-to actors when it comes to portraying the typical on screen "parent" role. Especially Steve Martin (Parenthood, Father of the Bride I and II, Cheaper by the Dozen I and II). His best known roles are that of the doting, hands on Dad.

I'm kind of surprised no one picked up on Kate's comment about the kids not liking fast food... actually handing it back to Kate? I know she takes pride in her organic, healthful meals .. but to say her kids don't like fast food? After we watched them eat chicken fingers & fries at the Phillies game, Happy Meals on the ski trip, burgers at Red Robin?

That's not exactly truthful ...

I didn't see this interview other than the short clip that was on You Tube that we featured. To be honest with you, even if I had see that, I would not have picked up on that. When I watch the shows (sometimes several weeks later)I for the life of me can not figure out what everyone else is making such a big deal out of most of the time.

All kids like fast food. If they say they don't, it is because their parents have taught them well. LOL. Living in a community where eating organic food is the in thing,I have heard many parents say that their kids do not like fast food. But those kids are usually the first ones at the snack bar when it opens at little league or soccer games.

ceciliaky,

I picked up on that too. Perhaps Kate forgets certain things. But if you and I heard it, I'm sure plenty of other people heard it too.

I really don't care one way or another about Kate. People talk about her hair being odd. I think she would look nicer with a better cut.

As far as the love taps go, (hitting) perhaps Kate's mom did that to her dad and Kate learned that behavior from her mom. The bad part about that is it's sending mixed messages to the kids, because Kate and Jon tell them not to hit each other. Kids look up to their parents as an example.

"Kid's look up to their parents as an example."

I couldn't agree more. In all walks of life. They look up to us in how we act, re-act, live , think and treat other human beings.

We could all learn a lesson or two about setting an example including how we blog about a real life family in a reality TV series.

I thought it was sad that she said she would trade her life for Bonnie's.

Also, is it just me, or does anyone else think she got a boob job? Another freebie or did she keep this one under wraps. She asked for one when she got the tummy tuck but didn't get one.

Hey Ava,

That is really not the first place I look and the last thing I would probably care about.
