Haven't read the GH article, but quick comment on the Pop Wrap article:
I completely agree with the writer about the lack of sophistication displayed by Kate and Jon when it comes to anything gender related. Concern about the kids seeing Jon in make-up for a photo shoot? You are kidding - right?
For pete's sake, people, wake up. It's 2008. I know you are very devout Christians from a small town, but surely this can't be the way most people think? Their attitude seems so juvenile.
You are not the Duggars (and for that I thank you) so wake-up and join the rest of us in this century.
I know, I always wince at their gender stereotyping bits, and the sense that I get that they have some fear of "sissy cooties" infecting any of the boys.
I hate to admit it, but my husband is the same way. He's been this way since the boys were babies. Just yesterday we were picking out Halloween costumes and he thought everything I picked up for my youngest was "girlie". He's not immature really(although he does have his moments), that's just the way he was raised. When I point out to him that he's being a tad silly, he will stop and think about it, but the rest of the time its just reflex.
It is interesting that in this article they admit that they are interested in adopting a child from Korea but that they are over the limit with the size of their existing family.

The articles (People and GH) were probably months ago. I don't know if the Korean adoption was something that was not well thought out on their part (an did I say that outloud omission without fact checking first) or something that is setting "us" up for something else.
IE "we wanted to adopt" BUT "we found out we have too many kids" BUT "by the grace of God" "we ended up with one more" (somehow).
Goodness, I hope not. I am trying not to be cynical, I really am. Really.

Ductape, are you suggesting they might try and get pregnant again?
Please be cynical! It makes for interesting discussion.
I don't necessarily buy it, but I *have* seen enough of Kate to know that she does seem to have a bit of a baby obsession and a need to be needed (ok, a push-pull need to be needed). So, if it were to happen, I guess you can say I wouldn't be "shocked."
I just saw an interview Kate did on some show about K-mart. Lord, if there is one thing I cannot stand, it's when celebrities endorse things like this. As if we are really naive enough to believe that Kate or any person with an income is budgeting and buying their toys at K-Mart.
To me, K-Mart is a step below Walmart.
And, btw Kate is a terrible spokesperson. Any time she tries to do anything scripted it is so awkward, I have to turn my head. To me, that is evidence that the show is certainly not scripted. She clearly doesn't do scripted well.
P.S. The previous post isn't meant as a Kate bashing. Just venting my frustration. Though the PR firm is good at landing the media attention, they also, in a sense, seem to fuel the hatred frenzy.
Why, when there is so much talk about the family misrepresenting their financial status would they choose to do an ad stating that they shop at K-Mart? It just gives the haters one more thing to harp on and site as evidence, even though it is an obvious paid endorsement (that every celebrity does).
She's kind of like those sports figures reading the cue cards. She seems nervous and flat. I wonder if she gets stage fright away from the normal filming crew. I don't know why she's doing the Kmart ads. I wonder what group of people they think will believe Kate shops there. Do they still have “blue light specials”. I do miss law-away at WalMart though. That was handy.
NMD - my thinking is kind of along the same lines as yours regarding this K-MART thing. I actually haven't seen it yet, but I can believe Kate comes off stiff. Like Merryway said, 95% of sports figures are the same way. Very few people have the "natural" ability to come on and do something like this and not seem nervous and scripted. Kate might improve if she has more opportunities to do this though. Some folks (again, I am thinking of local sports figures I have listened to) get better with more experience.
The whole K-MART thing actually makes me feel for Kate. I think she is intent on scooping up every opportunity that comes her way. Maybe that is the smart decision financially, but she does take a beating on this from the haters (not that they would condone anything she did) and I am sure it is exhausting to have all these commitments. That said, for all of those who complain that she and Jon don't have outside jobs - this is something she is doing to earn money for the family that the kids don't have to be involved in.

Very true, and maybe she and Jon are planning ahead for the day that they pull the plug. Building things up, so to speak, so that she is a household name. Then they won't really rely on the show for income. Who knows...this is all just speculation.
Glo, I don't necessarily think that's true. I think one of their mods lives "near" the Gosselins but doesn't know them personally. Julie obviously knows them. It hasn't been proven that any other moderator knows them.
Nomoredrama, Thanks for the info. I hadn't heard a big to-do about this before, so I thought I might have missed something. Just more crazy rambings, I guess.

I tend to think that those are signs of Jon's (in particular) immaturity.

Anya, I was thinking more in line of - I won't be surprised if they do end up with a Korean baby.

There was a comment on the NWP Pop Wrap article that said that GWOP's "managers" are neighbors of J&K--does anyone know what this is about?

OMG, Glo...off topic, I just LOVE the adorable little puppy in your pic :-)
NMD,
Thanks--it is my dog Payton. He is addicted to fleece blankets and loves to snuggle with anyone who is using one.
