Favorite Scenes

Submitted for post by Lizabeth

What scene(s) from Jon & Kate Plus 8 could you watch over and over without getting tired of them?

Yay! Apparently ya'll agree with my idea :).

One of my favorite scenes is when they are doing the hide and seek (on the Games ep). When they can't find Jon, Joel (I think) says he thinks daddy went to work.

Another perpetual favorite is anytime Aaden says he is an animal. I's a dragon.... oh and especially when he is getting a haircut and Mady tells the barber that he is a dragon, to which the barber replied "I've never cut a dragon's hair before!"

(I don't know if this is the exact wording of the scenes but I just got done with a LONG work day so if not, you get the gist :)!)

One of my favorite scenes is Alexis standing over Aaden, who's not feeling well, looking up and saying, "Aaden is my buddy." And then when she's trying to shoo Hannah away, saying, "Him will throw up on your hands," followed by this little dialogue she seems to have with herself saying, "yes, no, yes, yes," before she hits Hannah to get her to leave. I know it's not nice to hit, but all I can think of when I watch that scene is that Alexis is the cutest little girl and she's so sweet and funny. I just love that little moment.

Anytime Alexis talks about her "aldergators."

Anya@IW said...

I have quite a few. Many/most involve Alexis. I do enjoy all the kids, but I am not J&K and I don't think there is anything wrong with me having a favorite...!?

The one I have replayed a few times since Monday involves Alexis hugging the scuba lady on the boat. Alexis is prattling on about seeing turtles and sharks in the water. The shuba lady points out that they didn't actually see any sharks. Alexis tilts hers head and says, "But I like sharks. But they are tooooo scary..." Scuba lady says Alexis doesn't need to worry because they are "man eaters." Alexis smiles (a little bit confused no doubt) and repeats herself, "they are tooo scary!"

Kimber, um, this is a bit embarrassing, but I have played that scene easily more than a dozen times on You Tube. It is one of my all time favorites. Not to be ignored is the priceless look on Aaden's face. Clearly, the poor guy isn't feeling well, but you can tell he is relishing having his two sisters fighting over who will take care of him.

If I am not mistaken, it's one of the most played Gosselin clips on You Tube, so I don't think we are alone!

Anonymous said...

You're right, Anya, the look on Aaden's face is priceless during that moment. I'm not surprised that it's one of the most played Gosselin clips on You Tube. Not at all :)

I think that most of my favorite scenes feature Alexis too. ;)

Definitley Leah being disgruntled with her siblings and exclaiming "Everybody's Aisan!"

MonicaW42 said...

Mines with Alexis of course....

"Hannah pooped in Hannah's undawears"

disclaimer:spelled like she said it

Anya@IW said...

Nina, you are too good!

I realized Guin already mentioned my favorite scene in the other thread. I was trying to come up with another (I think my last post blew up before it went through).

Anyhoo, Samantha reminded me of the Asian cooking episode. Alexis is standing on the chair and Kate is wiping her mouth. Alexis says "I am Asian like you!" Too cute and the look on Kate's face was priceless - she was clearly tickled.

I have so many favorite moments, and yes, quite a few of them involve Alexis. One that comes to mind is when Alexis and Leah are being interviewed after the trip to the Sight and Sound show - the kids had all picked out stuffed animals at the gift shop, and Leah introduces hers, "this one's name is Fluffy". Alexis sort of takes over and talks over Leah as she tries to name her other stuffed animals; Alexis wants to name all of her alligators: "This one is, ah, Fluffy. This is Carson. This is Allie. This is Biggie." And then Jen asks her how many more alligators she wants, Alexis holds up one hand, and Jen asks, "Five?" Alexis nods and says, "I'm missing some."

It's just sooo cute. You have to see it to get the full cuteness effect.

On Jon and Kate's Day, I love the scene when Aaden and Alexis are playing on the floor in the living room and Aaden says, "I love all the frogs. You get all the pink ones. I get all the green ones.."

I also like anything to do with Alexis and her "Aldergators"...

I thought Leah swimming for Kate in Hawaii was just wonderful!

Those are my current favorites...

Oh, I love that one too! Each time Aaden says a line, Alexis replies with this exaggerated "wow!" Then they decide the the alligator is hungry and toddle toward the kitchen to make him "cheesy puffs" (or cheesy something). I always watch and, knowing Kate's issues and territorialism over her kitchen, think, "yeah, good luck with that."

Quiltart said...

... P.S. and the scene where Leah claims her territorial raisin when they are sweeping under the table! That's a keeper, slso!

Nina Bell said...

My favorite has always been Aaden in the car on his special day saying "I can't see sheep."

Even my husband thought this was funny. For the last several years, he has walked around the house looking for his glasses saying "I can't see shit."
It sure sounded like that was what Aaden said the first time or two and it seemed like Jon thought so too!

Mom said...

I know there are more, but this one always comes to mind...

Joel saying "I don't have to go potty. Boys have wieners....etc."

That one always makes me laugh out loud.

MonicaW42 said...

Mom,

I forgot about that one. That was a good one.

marci said...

Great topic!

Monica,

I think it was Leah who said, "Hannah pooped in Hannah's unnawares."

I just saw the epi at lunchtime today...the one where Cara and Mady go for their photoshoot...and Leah goes up to Jon, "I pooped in my unnawares!" and does the Frankenstein waddle to the restroom. TOOO MUCH!

I think there's a theme to my favorite scenes....

Anything with Alexis!!!

"It's just a building."

Or Kate doing Alexis' hair on the kitchen counter and Alexis is doing her hand gestures in her own little world.

Kel said...

I forget which little girl asked, but someone asked about "Boops" which I thought was totally sweet. I also liked the look on Jon's face when she asked, total "Oh. No. She. Didn't" Look

Nina Bell said...

I also really enjoyed the scene where Kate was upset about the knob or handle that came off of a drawer and she was questioning the boys about who took it off. None of them would tell who did it and when she turned her back and walked away, Collin did a little Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha dance.

marci said...

Favorite Jon and Kate moment:

The interview after the trip to Disney when the producer asked Kate if she thought she might have overreacted to the ice creams incident and Kate deadpans it..."No", and Jon cracks up and flings his hands in the air in an imitation of her.

I usually like any time Jon's making faces on the couch. These are also the only scenes my husband ever laughs out loud at...hmmmmmmm.

marci said...

Yes, Nina!

Collin's little jig!

Priceless.

MonicaW42 said...

Marci,

Was it Leah? I could have sworn it was Alexis. Argh. There are to many favorite moments. I'm going to blame that lapse on getting old and it being a long day (wink) :)~

Anya@IW said...

Kelley, I think the "boops" was Leah!

Another fav: Kate is dressing Alexis for the 3rd birthday party. She asks Alexis who the party is for. Alexis say "God?". Kate deadpan - "how 'bout you?" Love it.

Marci,I loved "It's just a building." too (said during the lighthouse episode where Jon took the kids up and Kate stayed behind with Hannah and Mady (I think).

Another favorite. During the disipline episode, I believe all six are seated on the interview couch. Jen asks who goes to timeout the most. Alexis raises her hand tentatively. Right at the same time, Leah shouts "Alexis!" Somehow whatever "shame" Alexis is feeling melts away and she juts out her chest and says, "Me!"

Lizabeth, thanks for suggesting this. I love how POSITIVE this topic is. A great way to start a well-deserved weekend for us all!

Or Kate doing Alexis' hair on the kitchen counter and Alexis is doing her hand gestures in her own little world.

Is that the time when looks at her and goes, "Who are you?" I loved that.

Other great Alexis moments: in "Garage Makeover", when Lex is the only one willing to hang from the ceiling storage bins Kevin and Jon have installed. And then Kevin (sigh...I miss him) puts her on a shelf, and Kate is all freaked out. I could relate to Kate being freaked out and to Jon's, "He's standing right there" comment, both.

I loved Alexis at the dentist, too. Poor little thing, she was so upset. But the dentist was very patient with her (obviously used to it) and Kate was very kind, and she calmed down when she got her blankie.

I agree that Collin's little ha ha dance has to one of top. That one gave me a good chuckle and I'd like to see it right now.

I could prob watch the episode where Jon is Mr. Mom several times. I remember Aaden giggling lots. He's often a non-animated so I gotta kick out of hearing him laugh so much. That was the show where Hanna stood up on the stool behind Jon's back after Jon told her not to They also taped messages to Kate from the kids which was really sweet.

I love Collin so confidant he was going to do the magic trick with the coin just as easy as Jenny had done. It was the last 4th of July ep. He quoted Jenny perfect. “okay everyone count down”.(something like that)

Oh, how could I have forgotten about Joel just instantly riding his bike. How did he do that? That was cool.
I love the Alexis moments. She looks so deceivingly dainty and fragile.
There's more because the kids are adorable. These are the ones that popped in my head.

Guinevere said...

Uh, I left the word "Kate" out of my sentence above, obviously. Stupid lack of edit feature.

This isn't exactly a scene, but one of my favorite J&K moments was the boys potty training at Beth & Bob's house.

The week before the show the trolls were going on and on and on about the boys using the potties in front of J&K's house in full view of the neighbors. What a horrible mother Kate was for doing that to her boys, they said. Then it turned out to be Jon & Bob and it was on Beth & Bob's private driveway. Seeing that was a sweet moment.

My all time favorite "him will frow up in you's hands."

Lizzy said...

Oh my word-- the "Who ARE you?!" scene is awesome :).

Merryway, I was just thinking of the Mr Mom episode earlier-- I love when Jon talks about the video they made Kate when she was gone, and I got a little choked up watching her response. She started crying and was just so genuinely touched :).

Anya, you are welcome!

Oh I just thought of another one- they have the kinda deleted scene where Jodi comes with her youngest (can't recall his name now...) to take pacys away from the six. I love how Kate and Jon are holding and loving on him while the tups get one last suck on their pacifiers before giving them away :). SO cute.... thats why I'm a huge proponent of the "Just because they don't show it doesn't mean it does not happen" mantra-- obviously Jodi's kids knew J & K well and there was interaction between them.

Ann said...

Joel's triumphant bicycle ride without the training wheels!

Anytime the boys are naughty (splashing in water, the dresser knob, jumping in the mulch, eating the glo stick)

Hannah's naughty dance standing on the stool behing Jon's back when he told her to stop standing on the stool

The one-on-one day with Alexis to see reptiles

merryway said...

Lizabeth, I also got a little misty eyed with the video scene. It was precious.
You made me think of Mady with Beth's littlest one. It was sweet how she tended and played with him.

Kikibee said...

Joel's "Oh My!" when the bakery lady spread the icing on the cupcake.

And all the random, spontaneous instances of the kids comforting and patting each other.

Anonymous said...

Favorite scene: Leah and Joel on the interview chair talking about their special day out.

The two of them were so cute in how they interacted with one another.

Leah: I did not need a blanket. (to go down the slide)

Anytime that the girls tell the guys, "You're so pretty."

Then, was it Joel at Aunt Jodi's who when she went to wipe his hands while making lollypops and he said, "No I can yik it off."

Cute, cute.

On the show that was Colin's day when he said he was going to drive the train and Kate told him she didnt know if he would be able to drive it or not and he told her yes, he was and then he said "It's all fun". That was too cute. We go around here now saying "It's all fun".

Anya@IW said...

Barbara, I believe it was also on Collin's day that he went around giving good-bye hugs to the other five that were staying home and going down for naps. Very sweet. All of them are very affectionate children.

Wasn't it at the train station that he told the tour guide that he didn't want to "get lost." I can imagine it must have felt strange to him to not be surrounded by his siblings.

Anonymous said...

Well my favorite is when Joel is looking at his cupcake at the bakery and says "Oh My"...like he had never seen something so scrumptious in all his life. Love Joel.

Second fav, Alexis-"him throw up on your hands"

Great post!

Another cute Alexis moment. When they're going to the NIC-U and Jon goes downstairs to wake up Alexis, her whole reaction is just so sweet and warm and cuddly. She says something like, "nuh-uh" and "I IS coming," and then Jon says something to her and as she gets up she says, "okee-do-kee," and gets out of bed and goes up the stairs.

Also in that episode, Alexis saying, "a NIC-U-U-U."

Alexis' reaction to seeing the alligator at Legoland.

On Cara's day, Leah coming back in to give Cara a hug because she's sad Cara's not going with them.

Cara and Mady on the water bed at the furniture store, saying they want a new bed too, and then Cara says, "this one," and falls back onto the bed.

Playful and sweet Cara and Mady singing Christmas carols together.

Cara following behind Jon into the living room from the kitchen, and she does this cute little dance. I don't remember the episode, but it's in this great video on you tube, featuring the song, "Love Song."

Cara's enthusiasm and skill at skiing.

Cara telling Jon that she's not leaving the ski slope and she's coming back to ski tomorrow, and Jon's reaction to that (saying, "I love you, Cara," )is sweet and cute.

During the Utah episode, when Jon and Kate are out to dinner, Alexis is crying for them and one of Beth's daughter's (Kayla?) goes to Alexis and tickles her with a stuffed animal and Alexis starts laughing.

During the Mother's Day episode, when Nana Janet comes in and Alexis shouts, "Nana's home!"

There are endless favorite moments for me. These are just a few more of them.

My husband can't take the chaos of JandK+8 but he saw that episode and always says that when we pass by animals on the roadside, even if in fact we can see sheep. I like it that even though he doesn't watch the show, he likes the kids.

Anonymous said...

I liked in one of the episodes J&K were talking about which kids gravitate towards each other and they talked about how Colin and Cara are really close and showed her waking him up the one morning by rubbing his back and whispering to him. And that Colin calls her his "C Buddy."

I just found that to be absolutely precious.

Kel said...

I have to agree with "Nannytotwins" that is really sweet. and Anya, thanks for the name hook up, I think you're right it was Leah!

I think Hannah and the "Enjoy Yourself" comment is a keeper too!

Joel is very sweet in his adoration of Jon.

There was a similar moment in the Asian cooking episode between Jon and Joel. Joel says something like. "Your my daddy. I'm your son." Joel had the sweetest proudest smile on his face when was saying it.

There are so many episodes I love but for some reason when the kids are at the pumpkin patch is my favoite. I will sit fully and watch it because they were so tiny and cute then. And watching them going through the maze! Also of course when they are opening up their presents for Christmas! Not only does it get me excited for the Holidays, I truly enjoy seeing their faces light up as they open their presents. "monkey pajamas!"

Not to mention seeing them eat those sticky buns makes me swear I'm going to makes those too someday..

I love that. I will say that from my Zapruder-like examination of the film, I think Alexis first says something that sounds like "nokay", and then follows it up with "okey-okey." It may just be that she's hard to understand but I've taken to saying "okey-okey" in tribute to her, anyway.

And to top off the scene, she doesn't just go up the stairs - she scrambles up them on all fours like a crab! So cute!

I know I posted a lot, but I have to add one more.

Joel making and bringing pretend coffee for Aunt Jodi over and over. He was so into it and it was quite a trot back and forth.

My favorite is a scene where Kate is scolding the boys trying to find out who removed a knob from a piece of furniture. As soon as she leaves (in a huff, I might add), Collin does a little dance in the middle of the floor. I love, love, LOVE it!!

BTW, I am also the commenter Mom of Hope. I recently rediscovered my long lost Blogger account and thought I should try using it again...

One of my favorite moments is when they all go out for ice cream for dinner, and the kids are all wearing these big plastic bibs. Aaden's bib gets twisted around to his back with the wind and flies out behind him. Aaden peeks over his shoulder and says, "I'm a superhero!"

Sigh--he is just too adorable. :)

Kuromi said...

Alexis is my one of my faves, but my favorite moment is at the end of the Mady's Day episode. She throws up her arms and exclaims, "It was the best day EVER!" and the camera freeze-frames on her happy, happy, happy grin.

I think because Mady is an "older" sibling, people expect her to be much more mature than she is. So when she has meltdowns, critics get on her case, call her naughty, bratty, etc.--and she really is just a little kid, too. The freeze-frame of Mady's pure joy is priceless, and I hope her parents can give her more alone time in the future. I think she needs it more than any other G child.

I think most of my favorites have been mentioned, but there are a ton!

Pretty much anything with Alexis's use of "yittle" and "yike" crack me up. I looooved the way she says "its just a beeeldin".

Not technically a scene but the "On this episode..." where the three little girls are wearing their cute towel hoodies was adorable!

In the discipline episode where someone off camera asks Leah what she's doing and she goes "in time ouuut" and peers up with one eye.

Alexis at the end of the hair transplant episode going "daddy! you look pitty! you look pitty daddy" with her smile and jogging her head back and forth sideways.

Yes to both of those! That "coming up on..." was one of the cutest ones ever.

And the one little tear trailing down Leah's cheek just makes it for me. She looks and sounds so forlorn.

Anonymous said...

One of my favorite moments, where I laughed real hard, is where Collin and I think Leah are going to the eye doctors, and Colin says "If I dont cover my mouth..the froggies will come and beat me up" I was laughing so hard. Also, the one where Jon is cooking the asian dinner, and Joel says Your my daddy. I'm your son then he looks at the camera man and says "Thats my daddy"
