Octomom on Dr Phil/ Gosselins on Oprah

It was reported that Nadya Suleman was seen viewing this 1.24 million dollar house with the possibility of a future purchase. The most recent reports states that the " Dr. Phil" show rented this house for an interview with Ocotomom. No news yet on an air date.

Also, outspoken attorney Gloria Allred has announced HER plan to "provide for the medical and emotional needs" of Nadya Suleman's 14 children.

It also appears that the Gosselins will be on Oprah again in the near future. Click here to fill out a form to ask the Gosselins a question when they are on the show. "Do you have questions for Jon and Kate? Do you want to ask them how they manage it all? Tell us your questions and you might get a chance to hear your answer straight from Gosselin family."

I hope I get to see this show, it's sounds really interesting. And so far I like Gloria Allred's plan for the Suleman family.
But I thought I heard recently that Nadya was refusing help. Could that be possible? Did anyone else hear that? If true, hopefully someone will step in and set this girl straight. I'm glad Dr. Phil is taking a more pro-active stance in helping this family. I didn't like his last show about them at all, it just pointed out the negative and did nothing to get this family on the road to recovery. Thanks for the article.

On Tuesday Oprah is having Octogramps and Dr. Oz on.
I think she said gramps contacted her because he thinks she can get his daughter the mental help she needs. Or he just wants attention, who knows?

I really hope she takes help from this organization. They are really providing her with the help she will need. I hope she doesn't hold out for "something better."

I like Oprah, but I am not sure she would be my go to person for getting my daughter help unless I wanted the publicity.

I went to the website Angels in Waiting and of course I cryed by the story of little Lexie. I hope Nadya takes this offer of help. I also Hope Dr. Phil gets her some much needed Mental Help. As much as Gloria Allred is a media (bleep)I do believe she really wants to help. Angels in Waiting looks like a beautiful organization who helps innocent babies who need special people to give them the best life possible. Nadya would be stupid to not take this offer of help. I think more people would donate if they knew there donation would be going to the babies and not to Nadya to spend on things she doesn't need. I think Gloria needs to hit up all her famous rich clients to donate some of their money to this woman. I wish those babies the best.

You know what, as much as I disagree with Octomom's decision to bring 14 children into the world that she cannot care for, my bias is that these 14 children do need care. I don't know that the children should be punished for the mental health problems of the mother.

I respect Gloria Allred's decision. I also think the benefit of such a plan is that there are "eyes and ears" in the home at all times. If something is wrong, these people will have a legal duty to report it.

As for Dr. Phil, well, I don't have many positive things to say. If she is given good treatment as a result of going on the show, so be it. But, honestly, mental health treatment and counseling can only do so much. There are still 14 children being raised in this chaos. All of the therapy in the world can't change that.

I fear for these kids...I really wish the kids the best in life. I'm sickened that this mother has scammed her way into profiting from this. I think that might make me a hypocrite as I sit her defending Jon and Kate...I see their situation as different but, is it?

I don't know...I truly don't know what to think.

I am irritated by all the media giving her cash to tell her story. She is quite obviously on the dole, will be on the dole forever, and had these children to ensure that. The MD who implanted her with more than the reccommended "Three embryo's" should have his/her licence revoked. This is a really touchy subject for me, I'm sorry if anyone is offended.

EveryoneLovesErin said...

This subject in general is a struggle for me. One one hand, I don't think the government should be allowed to tell you how many children you should have and under what circumstances.

On the other hand, implanting someone with that many embryos seems unethical. Should someone with no means for supporting a child be given the liberty to keep making babies.

Of course, that is a real conundrum for me because there are many people who continue to have babies despite being on welfare or not being able to provide for their families.

I don't like the thought of government restriction on family planning. What do you do, though, to prevent a terrible situation like this one?

NMD, J&K and Octo Mom ARE different. J&K were a two income family and Octo Mom was a zero income family when she went through her procedure.

EveryoneLovesErin said...

That is a good point, Daisy...

Alot of people have kids when they are young and may not necessarily be able to afford them initially but they may be building a career and eventually money isn't as tight.

I guess the difference is when you have child after child knowing that you could never support them on your income. AND J&K did not set out to have 8 kids. Nadya very deliberately did what she did (knowing full well she was struggling as it was).

So yeah, there is a difference. I guess it just scares me that people could start to deliberately have multiples for attention. Of course, they'd have to be pretty mentally disturbed but it still makes me think...what if?

Eileen, I had not heard that Nadya was refusing help, but who knows, she seems in her own little world a lot of the time.

Nina Bell, I agree that going on Oprah seems kind of a drastic step to take to get one's daughter help. Maybe the dad has more than one motive, however? Hard to tell. I guess we will know more after the show. The renting of the house seems....odd.

Indianprincess, I agree with all the points you made. I too went on the website and read the story of Lexie. What a beautiful little girl and I am so happy she has found a true home and a loving mom.

IMO Nadya should be grabbing at this offer Gloria Allred has put together and be ever so grateful. At some point, with her previous and very planned pregnancies, it should have been obvious she was struggling to care for the ones she already had. I cannot believe their rent is not paid up at this point. They were behind all that time fearing they would have no roof over their head? This must be a stressful situation for all of those children. I wonder how they are being affected by this. The doctor, oh my. I hope he's thoroughly investigated. He sounds kind of twisted to me.

Hey! all you big corporations, Here's you chance to donate without harming your image! I'm sure you all want to help these new precious babies as much as they did the previous HOMs.

I haven't watched Oprah for years. I remember watching it when it was new. I'm not sure about the Nadya's father contacting her either. Who knows if it's true, Oprah's people could have been beating down her door. Nadya's got they eyes of America on her and it will be great for ratings. I keep wondering about this big house elsewhere he was quoted about, it was right after the birth and the media was all around.

I will watch Oprah when the Gs are on. I love seeing them on these shows.

I am so not looking forward to hearing about this woman for the next 20 years. She is not going to fade into obscurity without a fight. And of course people will be interested in the kids. I just get the feeling that she will periodically do crazy stuff to keep herself in the news.

Can you imagine being the owner of the Suleman home (do they own or rent?). Either the owner or the bank is going to feel like crap throwing them out, but they deserve their money too!

Side note, Ann Curry is the only person who annually interviews the McCaughey septuplets. I wonder how she gets these baby interviews? She was the big scooper on the OctoMom and Matt Lauer kept congratulating her on that while leading into the interview.

I find it refreshing that Bobbi M. continues to keep quiet on the topic and, I guess live their day-to-day lives. Personally, I wish Kate would too, and just stick to promoting her family in unrelated ways.

I remember the McCaugheys said that they felt comfortable with Ann because she was respectful of their faith and she had a child around the same age as the septuplets.

Tomorrow morning on Good Morning America, there will be an interview with a man who says he thinks he could be the father of the octuplets, as described here:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/02/21/nadya-suleman-sperm-donor_n_168870.html

"The man, whose identity GMA won't reveal until their interview with him airs Monday morning, donated sperm three times to the clinic at which Suleman received her in vitro fertilization. He is unsure if the children are his, but Suleman approached him asking for sperm donations, so he believes a paternity test is at least in order.

The man and Suleman apparently dated for several weeks, but he now believes that she was still married to her former husband Marcos Gutierrez. Suleman has denied that either man is the biological father of the octuplets."

One reason Nadya might not be so eager to take Angels In Waiting's help: Beforing offering said help, Gloria Allred filed a scathing complaint with the Department of Children and Family Services, demanding that they "investigate" the Suleman situation and possibly throw the kids into foster care.

After someone committed such a publicity stunt, I'd certainly be wary of their offers for help! Such help seems to have been extended in the spirit of self-promotion, rather than truly wanting to aid a family in need.

Entertainment Tonight is supposed to have a new interview with Nadya tomorrow. Supposedly they will ask her the "tough" questions.

Nadya and her mom confront each other in this video-- I can totally see Nadya's point that she had the embryos and wanted to use them, as well as that you can't unring a bell. At the same time I feel it was irresponsible to have more children when you could not support the six you already have.

I don't know what bothers me most-- that the hospital is just now saying they will investigate to see if Nadya is a fit mother, or that she still believes she can take care of all 14 kids on her own.

Also, I cannot believe they are publicizing the fact that that she was offered one million bucks to be in a porn movie.
