I have no idea if you guys use woot.com at all, but today there is a woot-off!!

(Woot is a website where each day they have one item available for a really good sale price-- a woot-off is when they have items for sale one after the other for an entire day, so as soon as one sells out they throw another on the site. A lot of the items are computer accessories or random things you wouldn't think of buying online but it is worth checking out :)!)

Nina, beautiful flowers on the main page! They are really uplifting on this dreary February day! Thanks!

Nina Bell said...

Your welcome. No other holidays right now and Anya told me that violets are the flower for February, so I posted that. Long winter and not over yet.

Anonymous said...

I am soooooo tired of winter. Dry skin, heavy coats, freezing my butt off every time I take my dog out. I'm ready for a (real) suntan, fishing, cook-outs, driving with the windows down, playing with my kids in the yard, not to mention the fact that I have lost 30lbs this year and am currently back to my pre-baby size so I MIGHT even consider a bathing suit this year!

I read the time changes on 3/8 and for me, whether it's warm or not, sunlight until 9pm means summer.

A couple week ago Guin asked in a thread “Is it okay to watch the show for entertainment purposes if you believe it’s exploitive? “
It made me think of a couple of a movies I had seen that exploited the child actors. I mentioned Gummo but another that came to mind was Pretty Baby. Some child actors names have come up, but I don't remember Brooke Shields. She was only 12 when she made that movie and I remember her having a mother who was an alcoholic. Anyone else impressed with the way she has held her life together and her success? If there was ever a child that was exploited, it was her. I only saw a couple of the episodes of Suddenly Susan, but I love it when she pops up here and there. I just watched Freeway the other night and she was in it. I really like her in everything I've seen. I was impressed with her honesty about depression after giving birth.

I am soooooo excited for Top Chef tonight! It's kind of like J&K in that no one I know watches it. Strange.

Anyone watch the Real Housewives? Bravo can really put on a show!

MonicaW42 said...

Another one was Taxi Driver with Jodie Foster. And just recently Dakota Fanning in Hound Dog. I think those roles are just as bad as the critics calling fowl on the Gosselin's. JMO......

I've been waiting for Real Housewives of NYC to come back and it did last night! I'm hooked...

Ooooh, Top Chef! I love that show! I'm pulling for Stefan (now that's Jamie's gone) and Fabio for fan favorite. I hope Hosea goes out in a spectacular fashion, 'cause he bugs.

Well, Monica 42, you have a funny avatar. As I read it, I really thought it would be a Hallmark card...then I read the last line. Lol!

I love all the new avatars. It makes the site fun to read, and even those who "lurk" seem to appreciate it, since when I lurk at other sites, I read lots of comments about our clever avatars. MrsRef, your baby eagle pix is great, but it's even better with your comment that "he looks like I feel somedays!" Lol!

Speaking of avatars, I just want to thank Guinevere for her "saint" avatar. I understood right away that it was a kind gesture toward me and nothing to do with mocking anyone's religious belief. Not everyone reads every Gosselin blog, pro- or anti-. I visited one over the weekend that took quite a few swipes at the moderators here. I changed my avatar to "I heart Guin's debate skills" as a show of support to her. I can see our mods give each other support and seem to have fun in spite of the spite, but I wanted to give Guin some support as well. It was a comment of Guin's that first prompted me to post comments here. I like that she responds to posters comments, both in agreement and disagreement, "line by line." I like that she uses html codes. And I appreciate her saying I am her "favorite Saint." Very kind.

YEAH! The reunion is going to be explosive! Gretchen had a boyfriend the whole time she was dating Jeff and Tamra is going to let the cat out of the bag next week. She just broke up with the guy and now he is talking too. LOL Such drama. Im excited for NYC. Alex and Simon are just awful, the house in the Hamptons that they rented had me ROFLMAO. Simon actually said it was wonderful on the inside.

____________

I know! Simon and Alex are quite interesting to watch. But it would be boring without them! And the whole Gretchen thing on RHWoOC, I keep reading stuff but who knows what really happened? I am choosing to believe Jeff was very happy when God called him and that's all that matters.

Jeana's date was soooooo smitten with her. How cute!

___________
And Saint, I'm going to work on my HTML tags because this would have been easier to understand had I done it. Guinevere does a good job with that.

I'm not much of a reality TV person because after awhile you can only take the same thing over and over again but with different people. I used to be a reality TV junkie and watched a lot from Real World to Donald Trumps show. It's like each season has to top the previous with more craziness and it started getting boring for me. I started watching HGTV lately. Anyone watch Heroes or Lost?

Jenn said...

BTW Nina I love the fat cat picture.

I am soooooo excited for Top Chef tonight! It's kind of like J&K in that no one I know watches it. Strange.

I love Top Chef. I'm glad that out of the final 4, I like three of the contestants (Hosea is just okay). Stefan will probably win; he seems by far the best chef. I'm okay with that, though I didn't like him at first because he really is an ass. I'm not usually one to like obnoxious guys on reality TV - I have a much higher tolerance, often, for the obnoxious women (hmmm....). But I can't help it; I think Stefan is cute. As is Fabio.

Though Carla is my favorite. I thought she'd annoy me at first but she is so goofy and positive - I love her!

I saw "Pretty Baby" in theaters when it came out. If IMDB is right about the opening date, I was 8 at the time. It was the 1970s and San Francisco, and boy did my parents make age-inappropriate film choices! Anyway, I think it mostly went over my head at the time. I do agree that Brooke Shields was exploited; not necessarily specifically in that film, but in general her beauty and sexuality were exploited when she was far too young to make decisions about being portrayed the way she was.

Jodie Foster in "Taxi Driver" bothered me less, perhaps because has always seemed so mature and smart that it's hard to imagine her letting someone exploit her.

People can say what they want about the avatars, I think they are fun. I don't think I even had one for the first few months I was here, and now I have to change mine all the time because I always think of fun new ones to put up. I am fond of the St. Anne one because it's so serene and beatific (uh, I can't say that about all of my avatars!).

Pride and Prejudice two disc DVD, 1995, starring Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle. Yes, it breaks that mini-series rule, but I'll count it as two. Please?

Last of the Mohicans, starring Daniel Day-Lewis and Madeleine Stowe

Elf. There is only one Elf.

I am only committing to these three (four!) and am saving my last one until after I read everyone else's because I always change my mind.

Tommy Boy
The Breakfast Club
Dead Poets Society

(Smacks head) D'oh! I forgot all about Pulp Fiction...and Shawshank Redemption. I guess I should have thought about it longer before I got on that damned island!

Don't worry, G-lo-- my dad (a HUGE Beatles fan) gave me his answer last night then today realized "Hard Days Night" was not on his list. So he redid it. I told him its a good thing he came up with a way to have the Beatles on the island, since there would be no iPod.

(As an aside, I find these kinds of questions fascinating... you can tell a lot about a person by the movies they would watch for all eternity...)

Sorry, still no avatar. Will try hard to have one by the weekend.
Picking five movies is very hard, but I think these:
Gone With The Wind
Love Actually
Simon Birch
The Bishop's Wife (the old one with Cary Grant)
Forrest Gump

Dirty Dancing

Dirty Dancing

Steel Magnolias

Geez, chick flicks much? lol

Just for good measure, I loved "Paycheck" with Ben Affleck.

Has anyone seen Jon and Kate Plus 8's description on Itunes? It says that they begin to make plans to relocate their family to another state and build a bigger house. The description is for season 4. I wonder what they mean??? Anyone have any ideas on what is going on...

Gina said...

The movie topic (great idea, Lizabeth) reminds me of a speech I have my students do in public speaking.
It's a music speech and the premise is that if your life was a movie, what songs would be on the soundtrack? The students have to choose between 8-10 songs and explain why they would be included on the soundtrack.
It's a really great speech and one of the students' favorites because I let them play sound clips of their songs.
I am always surprised by some of my students' picks. For example, I had a student who was very "goth" who choose the song "Build Me Up Buttercup" by The Foundations because it was a song that he and his mom used to dance to when he was little (Awww...).
Maybe we could do something similar here, but with fewer songs to keep the posts fairly short and readable, like five songs.

They must have gotten that from Julie. Where is ole Julie these days, surely she hasn't given up the good fight to save the kids.

Gina said...

Julie hasn't updated her blog since last October, and I haven't heard from either here or the Princess boards that she has posted another dark and mysterious note on GWOP in quite awhile.

I wonder if family pressure has finally got her off her soap box, or maybe since the Gosselins have moved her gossip resource has dried up. Who knows?!

Also, I have been meaning to ask, how long do you all think season 4 will last? It has been about 34 episodes already. Season 2 was about 31 episodes, so I wonder how long they will keep this season running. On the subject of the itunes description, don't you think that they would have gotten the information from the producers? I really don't know...just a thought!

Oh man, I typed this long comment and I think it got lost in cyberspace! What a bummer!

What I was saying was that I always knew I liked you guys (gals) but now I know why even more!! You all mentioned so many favorites of mine! "Sense and Sensibility" is one of my favorites! Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy - it doesn't get better than that. I also like "You've Got Mail" and "A River Runs Through It." I could never pick 5 that I just love, so here are some that I like:

Love Actually GREAT movie.
Corrina, Corrina This is an older movie with Whoopi Goldberg and Ray Liotta. SUCH a sweet movie. It reminds me of a sweet young man I once knew.
The Village This movie got terrible reviews, but I found it terribly romantic and inspiring about not letting fear keep you from things.
When Harry Met Sally Good movie!
The Bells of St. Mary's This is a classic with Ingrid Bergman and Bing Crosby. Sweet movie about teaching, but it was also the last movie I watched with my grandpa before he died.

I am a huge movie fan. I could go on and on. Please don't ask about books; I'll be posting all night!

LOST is on, gotta go!! YEA!

scarfoot79 said...

Oh geez. In an attempt to redo the post I typed, the other one showed up. Then, I typed in the wrong movie with Colin Firth. "Pride and Prejudice" is what I meant. I do love "Sense and Sensibility." And I deleted my duplicate post.

Movies:

Eileen, you avatar is adorable.

I'm enjoying all the avatars, they are really fun.

Merryway I am laughing at your choice of Fiddler on the Roof-- I asked my mom what she would choose and we both decided we love Fiddler but could NOT have it on our island. Otherwise I would end up singing "If I were a Rich Man" all the time!!

Scarfoot it is wonderful to have another Mr. Darcy fan. He is more than tolerable, I suppose, and absolutely handsome enough to tempt me :).

Jenn, Princess Bride is a phenomenal choice-- its hilarious but has a great plot line as well. Good call!

Not only is Octuplet Mom's house in foreclosure, but their phone was disconnected for lack of payment, as well.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,496169,00.html

So, basically, Nadya used money to get implanted with multiple embryos rather than pay the house payment? Because if you figure the timeline, 10 months ago, when she (or her mother, who she sponged off of) stopped paying that mortgage, she wasn't pregnant with the tups yet. She went to that clinic knowing full well she could not afford the roof over her head for the six she already had, knowing that she could end up with a multiple pregnancy. You can't pay your house payment, but you CAN go to the doctor and risk having several more mouths to feed? Good lord. The woman sense of logic and common sense is seriously flawed.

McB, I heard about the foreclosure and phone stuff on Nadya as well. This does seem to be a situation where she put her desire for more kids above the wellbeing of her family. So sad though... the mortgage company is trying to work with her but it does not seem like anyone wants to do her any favors. Just unfortunate that her kids have to suffer for her decisions in this way.

Oh-- as for the 5 desert island movies, here is my list:

Cinderella (Leslie Ann Warren version)
Zoolander
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers
Garden State
Beauty and the Beast

Merryway it is hilarious that you mention swapping with someone on a neighboring island-- I asked a friend this question and he said his five. After that he said he'd have a friend with him on the island, so he listed ANOTHER five movies that would also be there. Just funny that you all think outside the box like that!

"Not only is Octuplet Mom's house in foreclosure, but their phone was disconnected for lack of payment, as well."

Both Nadya and her mother have recently received a substantial amount of money for interviews/photos, as described in an article on syracuse.com:

"The March 2 issue of Us magazine cites sources indicating that Nadya Suleman has received $100,000from American tabloids for photos and $227,000 from British tabloids. Angela Suleman reportedly received $40,000 from RadarOnline"

Us magazine didn't say how much they paid her for the photos that appear in their March 2 edition. So the Sulemans have been payed more than enough to catch up on their mortgage and pay the phone bill.

MonicaW42 said...

Topper Returns (feets don't fail me now)

I love classic movies.

Really?? That sounds like they are just going to skip out of the current place in the middle of night. They don't seem worried about paying that bill. Where is the money? All of this is so sad for those little babies.

I missed the whole thing Ben killed Penny part. Was that near the end. Why didn't I catch that? I liked Franks conclusion about not going to Guam.

Indianprincess,

Toward the end of LOST, Ben said he had to go tie up a loose end and keep a promise to a friend. Then we see him, all bloody, on the phone at the dock. He was calling Jack to pick up Locke's body. I think he may have killed Penny, because he told Widmore he would kill his daughter. I think it will also make Desmond go back to the island to get Ben. I may be wrong.

Jenn said...

Indianprincess: when Ben told Jack that he had some loose ends to tie up, I think he was referring to when he stalked Whidmore and told him he was going to kill his daughter just like Whidmore had killed Ben's daughter. Then it shows Ben all bruised and bloody... I suspect a brawl with Penny.

Octo-mom is looking at a 1.4 million dollar house, as we speak... according to tmz.com. No wonder she's not paying her moms mortgage!

Jenn, what an interesting idea RE Penny. I was doing something else (usually I pay strict attention during Lost) and so soon forgot about Ben's blood-covered-ness when he called Jack and asked him to pick up John's body. If you're right... well, at least Desmond can somehow transcend time and maybe he'll be able to warn Penny and prevent it from happening.

Can't remember who all here watches Heroes... What do you think of the switch in plotlines mid-season? Personally, I hated that Sylar was allowed to immediately go back to being bad. I really liked the idea of bad-becoming-good (Sylar for example) and good-becoming-bad (Peter, Claire, etc.)--showing how there's a fine line and any person can fall to one side or the other at any time. Oh well, at least it's wayy better than the second season, where they jammed in umpteen million new characters and had that annoying little girl turn Mohinder and Matt into My Two Dads.

Anya, I would love an Oscar thread!

Still haven't come up with my movie list. I love Jaws, but maybe not so good on a desert isle?

Also, more love for Yours, Mine, and Ours (my daughter like the new version, though), Colin Firth, and Topper movies.

Anybody here like The Trouble With
Angels (with Hayley Mills)? One of my favorites as a kid.

Octomom is nuts, but as long as the taxpayers aren't having to take care of her gang I guess I can't complain.

Jenn and Theresa, I saw the story about Nadya looking at the 1.4 million home. If the story is correct, it only has 4 bedrooms and a pool!? Even with California (inflated) real estate prices, you should be able to get more space for your money than that.

I am really not able to comprehend her thinking process on any of the decisions she has made. All I can do is wish her the best for her children's sake.

So many good movies. I'm thinking I need something musical, so I can sing along. Will I be alone? Then I will bring Phantom of the Opera. If any family member comes, too, I am afraid I'll have to bring something else, though. That DVD will end up in the ocean if I have an audience.

Kikibee, I loved "The Trouble With Angels." I also think that along with Saint's "Phantom," she should bring "Singin' in the Rain." What a fun, warm musical!

I'm trying to not go all nutso about LOST and post too much about it on here, but I have to answer some questions! ;)

I am not sure what Kate did with Aaron, but my suspicion is that Ben gave Aaron to Claire's mother (I only think that because of him hiring the lawyer for a custody battle, and him telling Kate that Aaron wasn't her son).

I've been told many times that I need to watch "Heroes" but I'm afraid I'll never get away from the TV if I add any more shows!

Lizbeth: I loved that Cinderella with Leslie Ann Warren. They used to show it every year when I was a kid. It was so magical. I am sure I am much older than you though. Scarfoot and Kikebee, I have the Trouble with Angels on DVD. They used a school in Pa to as St. Francis Academy and we used to pass it on the way to my uncle's house. I wanted to be Catholic and go to St. Francis. I loved the part where Gypsy Rose Lee was there to teach them posture or something and had them being trees and Rev. Mother came in.

MrsRef,
Are you from PA too? Where was The Trouble With Angels filmed?

Scarfoot, I watched Singin' In the Rain so many times with my dad! I can annoy my family with songs from that movie, too. My daughters' high school is putting on the Sound of Music and we sing all the way home from play practice. Pity my poor husband.

You know, I hadn't heard that story. I kind of knew who she was - I had a vague recollection of her getting in trouble on the UK Celebrity Big Brother for racist remarks, and for being one of the UK equivalents of Paris Hilton - famous for being famous. But I hadn't heard she was sick.

I can't judge her. The whole thing is creepy to me, but if she is doing it for her children, then who am I to say she's wrong? Even if she's doing it because she has no sense of privacy and wants to live her last moments in the spotlight, I don't feel judgmental about it, just sad. I can't really understand the mindset of anyone who's first reaction would be to condemn the poor woman.

Kikibee said...

I just love Hayley Mills. "I've got the most scathingly brilliant
idea!" I was so upset when they made a sequel (Where Angels Go,
Trouble Follows) with Stella Stevens of all people.

I remember watching Cinderella every year too, (and Peter Pan
w/ Mary Martin, and Wizard of Oz,
etc). It kind of made things more special when you couldn't watch them any time you wanted.

I think for a musical I'm going to take That's Entertainment. Lots of singing and dancing and I won't have to pick just one movie.

Alot of movies are shot in Philadelphia - years ago we stumbled across them filming Trading Places with Eddie Murphy and Dan Ackroyd - the scene in front of Independence Hall. The Rocky movies were also shot there and Manaquin (they used the old Wanamkers on Market Street for the store) Has anyone seen the Shopaholic Movie yet. I read the whole series of books. I've been reading and reading and wanted to post in reply to CindyMom - YES, I love Top Chef and the Housewives shows. NY started back this week and it looks to be an amazing year with those Ladies. I was very upset that Fabio was sent packing - I wanted Stefan to go or Hosea (spelling??) I love Carla - she has really grown on me - but we'll find out next week with the finale. Did you watch the Housewives of OC? What was your opinion about Tamra and Vicki and how they treated Gretchen? I thought it was horrible - they seem very bitter/jealous. Oh well - just wanted to touch bases with another who watch my favorites!!

Weed said...

Wow - guess I should have continued to read, didn't know there were so many of us "Housewives" fans out there. I think I'm more hooked on the NY women than the OC, they came off very bitter this year, although I love Jeana and hope she finds Mr. Right!! I read Bethany's blogs - BRAVO had her type weekly blogs for Housewives/OC and Top Chef. I'm rooting for Carla to win - that would be 2 women winners in a row. I think Stefan's an amazing chef - it's his arrogance that gets me. Fabio was a dream!! Don't know if anyone has seen "Hell's Kitchen" with Gordon Ramsey?? On the same line "almost" as Top Chef. First time I've watched - not a bad show. These shows get me over the humps until my Monday night lineup. My DVR literally hums that night taping all my shows. Alright, I admitt - I have no life except work and my shows :-) The kids are grown and out of the house and now is Mommy time to finally relax at least until the grandchildren start coming!!

merryway said...

I have a question. Am I really the only one who can't find a single soul who watches this show? I remember St. saying her mother watched. I even made tapes of the marathon on Mem Day for my mom to watch and she never has.
It was kind of strange to hear Kate at WalMart the other day. Prob because I blog about her, and now her exposure is so much greater than it use to be. Since Kate is onscreen at WalMart, the public is going to be so much more aware of her (if they pay attn to the stuff on the screen, but it was kind of loud). WalMart is a lot of America and there's Kate. It's not like they had to change the channel to see her, they just have to need something from the store. I do know for sure that everyone I know has stepped into a WalMart many times. I think it's HUGE for Kate and the family, but a big push for Kate's fame.

Weed said...

No one I know watches the show. My daughter used to watch but got turned off by Kate's attitude and plus my daughter's young and had more pressing things to do :-)
I can't find a soul who watches or is going to admit they watch!! I enjoy coming here and reading what other people say because it's the only time I can "gossip" about it.

Scarfoot--with your comment about "Lost"'s Ben, you could be on to something. There wasn't any explanation for all the blood. Kate giving up Aaron (or whatever she did) was HUGE. And "Corrina, Corrina" was a surprise sweet movie.

Mrs. Ref--I too, miss the day's when a moving showing annually was a special sit-down-with-the-family event. It made the movie that much more special. Wizard of Oz, Charlotte's Web, all the Charlie Browns...."those were the days!"

Merryway--still don't know a soul who watches J&K or Top Chef, other than my online group here!

Weed--Big RHWoOC and RHWoNY fan too. Agree with all comments. Interested to see if Gretchen had a side number, maybe explaining all of Tamra's b&*$#-iness?

And IndianPrincess--thank's for telling me to sign in to Google first. I think I did it right, but we'll see. Didn't really see where to sign in, but when I went there, it was all set up and then asked if I wanted to "sign out" so hoping I'm signed in! : )

Lost fan. My hubby and I were talking about Lost last night in the car and I commented Ben killing Penny and we talked about it and thought it was a great storyline until he ask how would Ben get Sayid on the plane. Then we talked more about it and we came to a conclusion Ben got beat up by Sayid so he could get Sayid arrested and on that flight. I don't know. So many possibilities.

Eileen said...

My husband was just saying he doesn't see how this show can be popular at all because it's not on a major network. I think he was surprised to hear that both his daughters watch it and also to hear that a lot of their friends and other family members of ours watch it. I told him that his sister watches it too (at least she used to I'm not sure about now I'll have to ask), and when he heard about Kate Gosselin being bossy he said that's why she watches because she's just like Kate (his sister is bossy to all of us)! I told him to ask at work if anyone watches, I'll see what he says.
I really did think it was a very popular show.

Cincymom - next week is the reunion special at 9pm and I think the ** hits the fan. I've read the ladies blogs and apparently right after Jeff passed away Gretchen's old boyfriend moved in so next week's special should prove to be very interesting. Can't wait. Weed, aren't they the most obnoxious wannabes you've ever seen? I really got a chuckle out of that house the rented in the Hamptons...

I think Alex and Simon are ridiculous too. But they don't see it and Bethenny is constantly just trying to get them to own up!

I burst out laughing when I saw the house and their expressions - priceless!! They are such wannabes and I would love to smack both upside the head - I cheer when Bethany talks about them owning it!! Such social-climbers and so pretentious - I've got to wonder about ole Simon there , what is up with him. Anyway - makes for great t.v. I can't wait until Flipping Out comes back - I haven't seen anything about that show for this season. I really like Jeff Lewis and his assistant - another great show on Bravo. One of my all time favorite channels.

cincymom said...

Weed--you're right about the house. Which, by the way MY family would have been happy with. But the funny thing is that Jill mentioned the masseuse said she was renting out 2 rooms. So they might not even have gotten all of the lovely house to themselves....

Weed said...

I would have loved it also - I'm not picky - it had a beautiful pool and considering they have stated they Hate the Hamptons - take what you can get, right? I'm not to keen on the Countess either but at least she HAS a reason to be stuck-up. Boy, that sounded horrible, but hopefully you know what I mean :-) Signing off now - hope everyone has a great/safe weekend.

Hahaha! Jon and Kate were on The Soup-- Joel McHale said its a show about a man with no reason to live, then played the clip from the end of this weeks episode where Kate tells Jon to stop interrupting her. When it cut back to Joel he said "You know, Jon, I hear Octomom is available."

Genius :)

I saw "Surviving Twins and Sextuplets" for the first time earlier tonight. I really have to say, Kate and Jon were similar but A LOT softer. And they were so excited to move into their now old home because it has 4,000 sq. feet. Seems like so long ago.

The Soup comes on again at 12:30. I'm kind of excited whenever they are on there. It's one of my fav shows.

merryway said...

That was a super good The Soup. I saw the clip of J&K on The Soup. I do believe Kate could become a fav person of the show to make fun of. The audience reaction was some sharp quiet ooohs (surprised at Kate's harshness). It was super funny.

I never watch The Girls Next Door, but they show them a lot on The Soup. Does anyone think that Hef doesn't even know those girls' names?

Ann said...

Merryway,
I missed The Soup. I love when he does Jon and Kate (Jon Minus Nine...LOL.) I'll have to look for it on You Tube, which is the only place I have seen it.

Eileen said...

I saw Soup for the first time in my life this morning (my daughter taped it, I think she watches a lot of those reality shows he talked about), I still thought it was very funny and I don't even know half the shows he was talking about. And, Merryway, Hugh Hefner just looked so pathetic to me. And the Jon and Kate confession clip (is that what it's called? that's what my daughter referred to it as, I'm learning so many new terms) was too much, and it was more Jon's body language that got to me rather than Kate's words. He looked almost like he was cowering, I'm not good with words so I can't think yet of exactly what it was, he seemed defensive (in a self-protective way), he looked like he was shrinking. And my daughter pointed out the faces Jon was making to the crew and her take on that was that they have an understanding, sort of along the lines of 'here we go again guys'. But my feeling too was that Jon had a little smile on his face, so either it was just nerves, or maybe he somehow gets a kick out of her berating him. Or maybe the crew knows this is why a lot of people tune in and they were all happy for the Kate moment. I know my brother-in-law always pushes my buttons just to get a rise out of me, and I'll be yelling at him while he just sits back and smiles at my out-of-control behavior. Who knows what goes through another's mind?
I can tell you this, Kate does give the Kate-haters a lot of fodder, I could see that with my daughter's reaction to her and her "I told you so, Mom" attitude.
I think I'll just stick to reading about them and watching shows about them.

Thanks, Lizabeth. That was really adorable.

Ann said...

Really nice clip about the puppies, thanks. It's seems to be "starring" Mady. She's at a great age to care for a dog.

I've read the rumor that one or more of the kids are allergic to the dogs and that they've had to give them back (and it's all Kate's fault!)? Anybody know if it's true?

merryway said...

St., that's funny, I was just going to post about the same thing. I have seen the rumor everywhere. Even some dog forums came up in the search. I thought I saw the orig post on GWOP with the words “by the way, you suck Jon”. But, I can't seem to find it now. I don't know if that was the first of it or not. That was all I have seen. It was just Feb 8 that Jon was at PSU talking about the dogs. The rumors are so amazing. Jon has a pic in a bar and looks funny = Jon is blazed, hitting on all the young chics and spilling his guts about how they are divorcing and they have to finish a season and so forth. If anyone knows where the rumor of the puppies being returned was born, I'd like to see it.

Lizabeth, I would never see those clips if you didn't post them That was adorable! I don't think they'd be putting it up if they dogs were already gone. I assumed that was on their property. There was a full grown Shepherd there also. I wonder why he's there. Maybe he belongs to a security person. Maybe he belongs to a friend. I used to always take my dogs with me to one a friend of mine who had a lot of property. It was a great place for them to run. I just wondered, because it seemed like that had been a little time after they had brought them home. I thought it was interesting that some of the kids were more involved than the others in caring and playing with the puppies. Also the universal game of kids being dogs and fetching. That's always always an easy one when you're busy. So cute to see the bone in their mouth.

Eileen said...

My daughter told me that same thing about the dogs already being gone and about animal rights groups being up in arms about some things (that the breeder should never have given those dogs to the family in the first place, no background checks, the dogs were just treated as props or property, etc.), I have no idea if any of it is true and neither does she even though she spouts it as gospel truth! We'll see. I'm sure she'll keep me informed if it's true!

JerseyGirl said...

If anyone knows where the rumor of the puppies being returned was born, I'd like to see it.

It was on GWOP and the name of the person who said it was "KatesSwornEnemy" so you can tell the type of person they are. It was probably the same person who claimed Kate hit and ran her car.

Eileen said...

I've just been trying to look it up too, I haven't seen any facts at all, I just keep getting sent to sites where it's been said by posters. I'm not really that interested so I'm getting bored already, and I have to catch up on the news of the day before my grandson wake up, I'll ask my daughter later if she actually read it anywhere that's reputable.

Judy said...

My guess about the puppy return? I would attribute the rumor to the same PA local who posted last month on one of the blogs that Kate had broken her leg and begged the ambulance to wait until her camera crew arrived... drama, drama, drama...

merryway said...

Jerseygirl, thanks for the info. I still can't find it. Was that one that had the “by the way you suck jon”” It was something close to those words anyway, if that's not exact. I thought the person said they were a trainer or breeder.
I remember reading it, but I just don't pay that much attn to those rumors because I think it's silly and unfounded. The next thing I know, it's everywhere. I'll have to start bookmarking those things. If it anyone actually sees it, would you please let me know?

Indianprincess, love the new avatar. I love your other one also. Years ago, I tried to paint that pic on a t-shirt for a friend. It was a disaster and could stand in the corner by itself because the paint was so thick.

Yeah it was the one that said Jon sucks. She/he claimed he found them the house and then claimed he/she found them the dogs. I can't recall a claim of being a trainer or breeder. I remember someone else said they saw the dogs recently but that post wasn't responded to.

merryway said...

Thank you JerseyGirl. I prob have gotten the breeder trainer part confused by now. I have read so much of it as fact with all the mean words thrown in.

You know, when you have people like my daughter that are so gullible they believe everything that's in print, it's a no wonder people hate them. There's just so much out there I can't even bother sorting through it. Only time will tell anyway.
I do feel bad for the kids if they got attached to the dogs and then had to lose them, no matter what the reason. I kind of hope it wasn't due to one of the tups being allergic, if what I read is true about Mady being jealous of them, it just gives her another reason to resent them. Oh, maybe it's all hogwash anyway.
I can't believe I'm even this interested in this. You people are sucking me in!

I can't believe that one little post is what has gotten everyone talking about them getting rid of the dogs. You know how "they" are always accusing people of being Jon or Kate when they post something positive? This is the kind of thing I'd suspect Jon of posting. Get everyone riled up over nothing, and get people to watch to find out what happens.

I hope they haven't gotten rid of the dogs, but if they have it's probably better for them. It wouldn't be fair to the dogs to keep them if they can't give them the attention they need. Wouldn't be good for the kids though. Hey, maybe the dogs were allergic to the kids!
