Thanks. I don't regularly DVR "Oprah", but I will on Monday.

I had not heard anything about Ruby Gettinger before so I googled her and found this. http://www.mystyle.com/mystyle/shows/ruby/index.jsp

I am interested in her story and, of course, I do want to see the J&K update even though I don't expect to see anything "new."

Anya,

Thanks for the link.I actually am more interested in seeing the story about Ruby Gettinger myself. I think I saw on the clip that she has lost the weight without surgical intervention.

I saw Ruby on Chelsea Lately. If I remember correctly, they seemed to have developed a friendly relationship and I remember Chelsea saying she was a fan of Ruby's. They were talking about Ruby's ex-boyfriend, her show and her weight. I was impressed with Ruby, she seemed like a nice person and very determined. I've never seen her show.
I'm a little excited about J&K's appearance on Oprah. I didn't know it was a behind the scenes and I always wonder what questions they'll be asked. I watched the clip and all the children were with them. I still don't know how they are expected to answer questions with 8 kids, 6 of them being 4yo. So I hope there's a diversion for the kids.

I love Ruby! I usually miss the show and catch the reruns but she's awesome, so sweet. I'm more interested in seeing her than the G's.

I started watching Ruby from the beginning. She is losing weight with no surgical intervention. When the season ended, she was down to 400 pounds. Sam, you are right. She has a very sweet personality and I am rooting for her.

I watched Oprah-- Ruby's story is so inspirational!! As for the part with Jon and Kate the kids were adorable as ever :). Kate talked about how it took her a good year to really feel that she was bonded to each baby (probably due to having so much help when they were infants and thus not getting as much time with each like a mother of one would). Kate also made a comment about how bedrooms are now off limits since the kids are older now and need more privacy. She also said they do not shoot on Sundays and that they tell production when they don't want something filmed. Kate gets up at 5:30 in the morning to run on the treadmill now as well which is insane considering how she is NOT a morning person :). No wonder she is so tired lately at the night time interview sessions-- I think she should do something to be more lively then but at least it makes more sense.

Oprah had a couple from Texas (Jennifer and Kevin) that are expecting Quadruplets and have two other kids already--she asked Kate about working after the babies and if it was realistic thinking she could care for all four babies on her own. Kate said she went back to work when the tups were one and that with enough help its possible to really get through everything. Oprah asked how the cameras have affected the kids perceptions of the world and Jon said it helped them be more well adjusted. Kate said it increased their ability to meet others and gain life skills, and be ready for the world.

So the only really new thing is their confirming the extra controls in place for privacy. This was encouraging to me since I know we have all commented about how it seems there was a conscious effort to give Mady and Cara time away from the cameras, and now we know that is a fact.

I think this is good. I don't know how anybody can complain about that....but, you know people will. :) Or, they'll call it "damage control".

Kate and Jon are good parents and it's apparent they know what's best for their family. They got to "here" because of their planning. Smart couple.

Or they'll take credit - obviously, the Gosselins would only have made changes in response to the haters' complaints, not because of the wishes of their kids or anything that they see in their behavior or adjustments that they themselves as parents felt were appropriate. The haters will take credit for every positive change in the Gosselins' situation, and blame J&K for all the negative stuff.

Man, these afternoon shows.... sit down and you drift off. I saw the Little People Just Married couple where she parked on the railroad tracks (there banter was cute) and then Kate was saying “we don't film in the bedrooms, they need privacy”.
Were they in the studio? It seemed the like all the children behaved tip top. I didn't hear them make a sound. I thought the group looked like they were missing someone but they matched so much I couldn't tell and they would cut away before I could see (it was still a little sleep fuzzy). At the end, I heard one or two yell they “I love you to Oprah and she told them she loved them” that was cute.
Nice to hear that concerns are addressed for the children's privacy and makes believe there won't be a show much longer, or they might try to change it to a different type of show. Who knows. I think the kids are fine w/J&K looking out for them as parents should. Growing up, I would have rather been a Gosselin than a Toddler in Tiara.

I did watch all of the segment with Ruby. That was really nice and I might try to catch her show. Both times I have seen her I have been taken with her speaking voice and her personality. I was looking for a clip of the show on the Oprah site and there's an additional segment w/Ruby.

There's a recap of the Gosselin segment right here (they were all there, but they don't look as big as group as usual, must be the setting). They were in the studio because Oprah's holding Hannie.

You can read an excerpt from Multiple Blessings here. It's all about Kate becoming pregnant with the tups and enduring hyperstimulated ovaries. What a painful ordeal and then to find out that you're pregnant with seven. That's weighty news and I love her honesty in describing the situation. How hard it must have have been for them.

Ruby is adorable. I had never heard of this show before or of Ruby. I am hoping she is able to get to a weight where she can be healthy and happy. She definitely needs to move on and distance herself from the ex boyfriend. She will find someone soon enough.

The Gosselin segment was cute. Oprah mentioned the puppies, so they still must be around. I think I read where someone said this was a pre-filmed segment. Wasn't the actual interview on the couch live? Or within the last week or so?

Well, I watched Oprah. The new season of Jon and Kate starts back up in May. The kids were quiet during Oprah but it was really early in the morning so they didn't look awake yet. Alexis and Cara's interaction was cute during the interview.

They showed the clip when they were on Oprah last year and Beth and Jodi were bringing out the kids to meet Oprah. :)

I think its great that they dont film in the kids rooms.
I loved Ruby, she has such a sweet personality and voice, cant wait to watch the rest of her journey.

Alexis and Cara were SO CUTE with their little kisses, and how at the end Alexis yelled "LOVE YOU OPRAH!" It is so wrong of me to have a favorite Gosselin--but I do, Sassy hands down!

I taped Oprah for yesterday's show - I love Ruby and can't wait until her Series returns. I also caught the "little people" show, I love the way the couple interact although I did notice that the husband gets alittle too frustrated with the wife at times but they are newlyweds so I'll give them a pass for now. I thought when she stopped on the RR tracks was funny - the husband had me rolling. Although dangerous - his expression and remark just made me laugh. J&K looked great as did the kids - not much new for them. I was wondering what time they had to get up to tape the show since Oprah made many references to that, thanking them for getting up so early and for looking so great so early in the morning. What time was it here when they were filming? I did like that with the new house they have put new rules in effect - No Bedroom Shots!! They all need that personal space where they can run to and get some down time. I think there were a few more things I wanted to address but I think it was Monday nights show and not Oprah I'm thinking of...hey, I haven't had enough coffee yet, I'll drink some more and get back to you :-)

The Oprah link shows the Gosselins first appearance on Oprah....they were not in studio yesterday. Living near Chicago I know Oprah tapes a show early in the morning and sometimes another show in the late morning. So the G's probably had to be up pretty early to get ready even for a taped segment since the audience was present.

I really liked hearing that the kids rooms were off limits because they need more privacy, that also gives the kids a choice (in my opinion) whether or not they want to be filmed.

Oprah also showed clips of Jon and Kate in some of their not so good moments and brought up the fact that on the message board some people thought they fought too much (or something along those lines) and both Jon and Kate said they are a married couple with 8 kids....it is gonna happen. They try to spend time together when the kids are in bed.

I missed Oprah AND the vet episode. :( Too busy. Thanks Weed, for the info about the ban on bedroom shots. That's great. I think they do too many episodes, but the show has improved from a privacy standpoint. The shows have been more thoughtful of the kids compared to past seasons, IMO. I don't know if it's because of the effect anti-Gosselin bloggers, or because the kids are older, or because Jon and Kate know what they are doing, are successful, and therefore have more control over the whole thing? Whatever the reason...it's a good development.

I finally caught the "Oprah" show. I am glad I saw it because I really loved Ruby and will make it a point to see if I can catch some re-runs of her show.

The Gosselins looked great. Not sure if it was due to the early morning hour or the kids getting older, but the little ones were less antsy. Nothing much new for those of us who follow them, but the audience seemed to like them.

I totally agree. I can't help it. Sassy is a hoot. I liked the Cara and Alexis interaction - we don't see them play together that much...

I highly recommend Ruby's show on the Style Network. She's brave, loving and entertaining. I'm really hoping and praying she will realize her dream to win this weight battle and from what I have seen, I think she will. Try to catch the random reruns of the first shows. I'm sure they will be running them before the new season airs. Go Ruby!!
