My Hubby just asked what I wanted to do....since I'm a penny pinching SAHM who homeschools I'll probably let my Hubby take me and the kids out to eat...that'll be a treat... and then we'll swing by Home Depot and buy my flowers for my flower beds.

My Mom and MIL live on the opposite coast...we will send flowers.

Due to our son's upcomming surgery on Friday, we celebrated Mother's Day last week. The kids got me an IPenguin. I plan on taking it with us to the hospital! :)

If the weather shapes up we are planning a BBQ with some family and friends and basically just hanging out.

Three Amazing Kids, I hope your sons surgery goes well. Your family is in my prayers. :)

I should have put this on my other comment, sorry bout that!

But anyways my sister just emailed me this link, its a song that she and her husband are going to give there daughter on mothers day. She is a teenage mom, and she is having some problems adjusting but anyways long story short its a great song, for any woman really and just wanted to share it! I'll add the link to the you tube video.

Jacelynn, that song is beautiful!! I was just about to link to Taylor Swift's new video for her song "The Best Day" (about her friendship with her mom). Here's the link-- http://www.cmt.com/videos/taylor-swift/377565/the-best-day.jhtml?&id=1610430

My dad left yesterday on a work trip and will be gone about 2 weeks. Today is my parents 32nd wedding anniversary, then Sunday is Mother's Day, so naturally we are all doing what we can with my mom. Our church is having parent/child dedication which is always sweet, and then we'll go out for lunch and probably watch a Hallmark movie or something similar :). Its nice to have time just to relax with my mom- everyone is always so busy (especially since she watches my nephew 4 days a week) so when we get time off from work we try not to fill it with all the 'stuff' that always comes up!

Praying for you, Three Amazing Kids, and that the surgery goes well-- as well as that you have peace through the whole process!

My daughter and I are walking the Race for the Cure, then out to brunch. This is something we have done for the last 5 years.

Liza Beth, I really like Taylor Swift but I hadn't heard that song before! Thanks for the link, although the video is unavailable in my area I just found it on you tube. :) Anyways its a really nice song!

We'll go to church and to lunch somewhere- my mom and grandmother live 6 hours away. I'm about to pop their cards/gifts in the mail. We will spend some time with my husband's mom and grandma of course. Overall- pretty low key.
We have a wedding on Saturday so I'm looking forward to a day of rest.

I'm hosting brunch at my house for my Mom with just my bro, sis-in-law and two sisters. My H has to work until 3 that day, so he's cooking up (literally) a little special something for me for dinner. My little one (2 yrs) already gave me a little bookmark with his finger prints painted on it (daisy petals). I just LOVE it!

In case I forget - Happy Mom's Day to all the moms out there! Enjoy your day!

My mom passed away last Sept. So this year I'm spending it with my MIL who is just the sweetest person on earth. She helped me "survive" the past year by just being there for me. Love her dearly and hopefully I'll be able to express to her how much she means to me!

I have a friend who is on the 'outs' with her mom. I gave her a lecture this a.m. and told her to get over it. Life is too short!

Third post - I'm getting braver, lol.

Sandy, I am sorry for your loss. I'm sure this is difficult but having such a wonderful mother in law has to help some. Good advice as well about how life is short. You really never know when your last goodbye will be, so all of us would do well to remember that each day.

Thank you for sharing and I hope you keep posting! As you can see, its not all about the Gosselins :).

I'm not really doing anything special in the traditional sense this Mother's Day. They hubby asked me what I wanted to do for Mother's Day and I said I need a break so he's taking the kids out for the day so I can spend the day all by myself in the comfort of my own home. I'm looking forward to it.

Best of luck to you and your son, 3AmazingKids.

My husband has a special dinner planned for me. One child will be away. Hopefully the other two will get some cleaning done. It's what I really want.

Sandy-

I'm very sorry. I'm sure the day won't be easy but I'm so glad you have a wonderful MIL to spend it with. A sweet mother in law is a precious thing, I'm lucky enough to have one myself. I hope the day brings you lots of special memories.

Thank you SamanthaNC and Liza Beth for your kind words.

I went shopping and ordered a cake and a flower/balloon arrangement for my MIL. Along with a watch, chocolates etc etc...I realize now that I think I went a little overboard.

I hope you all have a great Mothers Day!

May sound a bit wierd, but my Mom wants to play bingo at the local casino- she's never done that. Then off to visit Grandma, then pizza. Usually we do a brunch and an outing, but Mom decided to shake things up this year! It's her day, whatever she would like to do is what we'll do!

We just lost my MIL from a long battle with MS. In fact her funeral was the day before my child's birthday. The focus will be on honoring and remebering her, and that is absolutly fine with me.

Sending good thoughts your way. Please keep us updated and know you are your family are in our thoughts.

Also, to those who have lost mothers/MIL's recently, you have my condolences. Mother's Day becomes different after you lose your mom, but I try and use the day to reflect a little bit on what my mom meant to me.

Sandy, your advice to your friend was spot on.

Cards and flowers have been sent to my own Mom. I will not be able to see her this weekend but will spend time with her soon and celebrate it then.

My husband and sons asked me what I wanted to do and I said just spend the day at home with them. That is the best gift. Watch a good movie, eat great food and enjoy the day.

My mom and I are always a bit touchy with eachother.

I want to thank each of you who(m?) have reminded me that the time together is so important.

When we go to get our annuals tomorrow, I'll try to soak up the time together.

I am bored with Mother's Day for myself. I tell my older ones to skip it, but my youngest is very thrilled to have a present for me that I really know nothing about :) I will go to my parents w/something plus flowers for my mother. We will be outside while I work in the garden and grill out. It will be another nice day.

My mom lives about an hour away. I'll visit her with a gift on Sunday night. She is a very strong, loving, and imperfect woman. So am I. I hope that my children are able to be loving to me as I age despite my flaws and imperfections.

As for my celebration, my guys usually make me breakfast in bed. It is the most sweet thing in the whole world to me. They do it every year, but I usually shed a tear or two.

For those of you who have loving MILs -- cherish that! What a wonderful gift!

We're doing Race for the Cure. We do it every year. Then, I'm cooking dinner at Grandma's for my family and my siblings. We're all going to be down at Grandma's for Mother's Day.

Since my day starts early tomorrow and will last til well in the evening, I won't be able to jump online. I wish all the women here, both moms and those who are not (you still are a caregiver and cherished member of your family who performs motherly duties), a wonderful Mother's Day.

My son came home from the hospital with a new lease on life this Mother's Day. I got to spend it with all three of my kids and my husband. :) The rest is gravy.
