Favorite Sport/Team

With the Super Bowl behind us and March Madness and baseball fast approaching we thought it would be fun to compare notes on our favorite sports and teams. Do you prefer College over Pro? Basketball over football? Or is Little League your area of expertise?

Football? Blech. Basketball? Boring.

I'm a die-hard good ol' Americana baseball fan.

And, of course, the ONLY team to root for?

Red Sox!!!!!

Hey, be gentle, I married into it!

I'll watch pretty much any sports... NFL - go Broncos! NHL - go Avs! But I also love a good MMA fight!

Sports: Pro football & baseball.

Teams: MN Vikings & Twins.

I still remember the 2004 series - one of the best ever!

I always root for the underdog. One of these days the Cubbies are going to break the curse.

I have a soft spot for Penn State football. Never set foot in the state, but my dad was an alumni and fan...

Pro football is my favorite and I am a big Packer fan. I was fortunate to see Favre's last game as a Packer last year and sat in 24 below windchill weather and actually enjoyed it. I also enjoy college football and basketball and watch any Wisconsin game that we can get on TV.

Baseball is a close second and I have spent a lot of time at Wrigley field watching the Cubs. We even have one of those bricks on the walkway out front of the stadium with our family name on it.

We try to visit one or two different baseball stadiums each year and I would have to say Annie, that Boston has been one of my favorites. Love the fans there.

We vacationed in Boston in the summer of 2004 and part of our hotel package was free parking and 2 Red Sox ball caps. We're not even baseball fans, but shhh! don't tell. The Boston fans were SO NICE to my husband and son wearing those caps. EVERYONE commented and treated them like heroes...Pennsylvanians rooting for the Red Sox. LOVE the fans there! LOVE them.

I'm excited for March Madness coming up. Bizarrly enough, I root for both GW and Georgia Tech. The NBA though... sucks.

NFL - I'm a Redskins fan from birth, but I also root for the Ravens now that I'm a transplant to Baltimore.

MLB - Orioles. Please let us have a good year. Sooner than later. Please?

NHL - I grew up going to Capitols games. My family had season tickets since the day the team came to town. I was 3. And I bascially lived at the arena on the weekends. Go CAPS!

I guess it's pretty obvious where I hail from, eh?

Pro Football- Go Colts!
For March Madness- look into National Corn Dog Day!- You'll have fun :)

Pro football: Packers
College football: Notre Dame
College basketball: Notre Dame
Baseball: Cubbies (101 years and counting!)
Hockey: Red Wings

Pro basketball? Don't really have a favorite. March Madness is true basketball. Once they graduate, I don't even pay attention to what team they play for.

Packers and the Cubs. Love it. Hope this is the year for the Cubs. But we say that every year. My husband is looking into buying a home next to the stadium. He is die-hard.

Born and bleed Black & Gold. Elated and proud of the Steelers for bringing home the Lombardi Trophy for the sixth time.

Love the Pens, too. My boys and I go to as many of the games as we can.

Pirates games are fun only because of PNC Park. The team is certainly in a rebuilding stage. But, I'm just not a baseball fan in particular. To me, the games are so slow.

Our city is also very proud of our Pitt men's basketball team. They only lost one game this season so far.

Don't like football but my hubby is a diehard Bears and Cubs fan.

Don't like basketball.

I prefer swimming, to watch and to participate in. Gotta get my 5 miles in a week or I get antsy.

I remember when I took my son to one of his first Cubs games, he looked around and asked if we could move to one of those cool apartments across the street from Wrigley. You know, the ones where fans can watch from the rooftops? I told him that not only is Chicago the most expensive city in the country to live in, but those apartments across from Wrigley? HA! I told him we'd do it when we make our first million....in other words, probably never!

San Francisco Giants, all the way! I love baseball. It's the only sport I watch regularly. I tend to be a fair-weather fan of other local teams, but baseball is my first love (I do like football but the 49ers and the Raiders have sucked for a while now).

Nina,

My mother in law is from Wisconsin and is a HUGE cheesehead. I have to drink first before going to watch any games at her house when her teams are playing. She is brutal. LOL

MonicaW42,

I know. The fans here are something else. I love Wisconsin. Not just the sports but the people, the enviornment and the way of life. I am sure everyone probably feels that way about their home. Pretty cold right now though.

Even though they sucked this year, we're all Michigan Wolverine fans!

LET'S GO BLUE!

Nina - I'm not sure which is colder right now, WI or MI.

11 below here last night. Not sure about Michigan.

I have to be a Phillies fan because the rest of my family is. I prefer minor league baseball. My hubby is a high school umpire and my son worked for a baseball team before the ecomomy tanked, my daughter is in love with Shane Victorino. I have no choice but to watch baseball. I actually personally like curling (you know the one where they sweep the ice)

Nina, I know what you mean about Wisconsin. I grew up there and I miss it!

Pro football... Steelers Hockey...Pittsburgh Penguins

Should I be nervous about being a Vikings fan in the midst of all the Packer Backers here?

Oh, I also live in WI, but born & raised in Minnesooooooda.

Nina Bell said...

What part of Wisconsin?

Anonymous said...

NW Wisc, near Lake Superior.

Nina Bell said...

Southwestern here

Ah, you get the (slightly) warmer weather.

High of 37 tomorrow. ABOVE zero ♥

Nina Bell said...

Yes

A warming trend. Spring around the corner?

Anonymous said...

I certainly hope so. And with spring comes...baseball!

But I can't watch all the Twins games *cries*. Even though I live less than a mile from the WI/MN border, we still only get Brewers games. The games I can't watch, I have to follow online and/or live vicariously through my mom (who's also a huge Twins fan.) Nearly 70 years old, and she talks about the hottness of the players more than I do.
