Just to clear something up:Back in December, I did a little feature on the sidebar of this blog. It was called Great Gift Ideas. I featured three ( if I remember right) pictures of different ideas for gifts for Christmas. They were items that I had been given as gifts and that I enjoyed. One was for the Flip video camera which is just one great product that I use all of the time. I can't even remember the others now but obviously others can. These were not ads, nor sponsors. I had no contact with these companies and received no money. I just thought I would pass on some ideas for gifts I enjoyed.

When I first started this blog, back in July, I featured a few different friend and family member's companies as well as their blogs on my sidebar. I received no money from this also. I was new to the Gosselin world and did not realize the extent people would go to with their hatred of all things Gosselin. I took them down after one week because they were contacted to try and obtain information about me.

For the record, I personally have no problems with people selling ads on their blogs. I know how much work is put into a blog and the expense behind a website. We possibly might be selling ads in the near future ourselves.

It is important to remember that one person's opinion is exactly that. Their opinion. I respect the right for them to have it but I don't necessarily always agree with it just because we post it on our blog.

I don't have a problem with people selling space for ads and such on blogs. Its their blog, they are putting in the time and effort so why not make some money?

I agree Ladies. Hope everyone is enjoying their Friday. My daughter is going to her cousin's sleepover/birthday party tonight. 13 little girls betwen the ages of 5 and 7! I'm helping out.... it should be interesting!

Fun, fun Samantha! Hope everybody has some great plans for the weekend! The weather is finally going to be really nice and we are planting between 75-85 lilacs in our yard! Should look nice in a few years when they are full hight!!

Jacelyn, we have lilacs in our backyard, they overhang our deck and they are beautiful, and the back smells wonderful, but their bloom only lasts a few weeks. The green heart-shaped leaves are so pretty by themselves though too, and they really provide a lot of privacy for us, which helps a lot with the pool! I can't bring the blooms into the house anymore though as my grandson is allergic. I used to get beautiful, fragrant, gigantic bouquets from them but now I just enjoy them from afar. Happy planting!

I have no problem at all with ads on blogs either.

Samantha, I hope you and your little one have a great time! Enjoy!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Thanks, Nina.

I think we can all agree that no one is getting rich with Gosselin blogging! :-)

Oh, Samantha. That sounds like so fun + so tiring wrapped up in one big ball!

Jacelynn, have fun planting tomorrow. I hope to spend a few hours in the garden this weekend too. Very calming and centering, isn't it?

Thanks Eileen, we had lilacs at our old house, and then when we moved we were so happy that we had about 80 feet at the new house and now we are just adding a few more. :) I love the smell and they are soooooo pretty!
Thanks Anya, I love working in the garden, it is so peaceful. :) And I just love the outcome!

Thanks for that info Nina.

Whaaaaaa.....?

Now you tell me.

I was getting ready to start a blog so I could save up for some of those fancy-schmancy Cole Haan shoes.

Oh, well. I guess that means I'm stuck with Crocs. (NOT!) ;)

Lizzy said...

Nina, thank you for clearing all of that up.

Eileen, lilacs are my favorite flower!! Must be lovely when they are blooming :).

Well I was gone from last Friday through this past Tuesday and am not feeling 'back' quite yet. I rarely take vacation, plus we spent over 32 hours of this long weekend driving from place to place, so it was a bit of a whirlwind. I have a final paper due by Sunday (our prof is out of town so he said it was due over the weekend instead of Thursday). Just tough to get back into the swing of things on little sleep as well as lots of time with family :).

Samantha, hope you have fun at the sleepover!!

marci said...

Samantha,

Sounds like a blast tonight! I don't know why they bothered to call it a "sleep"over though. Your daughter will probably come home and collapse tomorrow!

Have fun!!!

I will pray for you Samantha!!! All those little giggling girls. I had my nieces overnight in November - 5 and 7 - They slept in my daughter's room - she's 28 - and I had to go in and make them stop the giggling after about 2 hours. It was a blast though. In the morning, they ratted on my daughter for being on her computer talking to "boys" She was busted. Have fun.

Samantha@IW said...

Thanks MrsRef- I'll take all the prayer I can get =)

Nina Bell said...

Marci,

I happen to like Crocs. Ok. I know, I know. I should not have revealed that much personal information about myself.

Nina Bell said...

Samantha,

13 girls is a lot. Marci is right. There will be very little sleeping until the next afternoon.

Nina,

LOL! Okay, I'll fess up. I actually own a pair of hot pink (yowza!) Crocs (everybody in my family got a pair last Christmas). They're outrageously comfortable. I can't wait to ditch my heels every night after work and scuff around in them.

I only wear them around the house though because I think they make people's feet look huge and I'm inordinately vain about my cute, little feet. ;) I personally think you shouldn't wear them in public if you're over the age of 10.

I don't mind Crocs flipflops though...not as bulky. I might switch over to them for around the house so it doesn't look like I've completely given up on how I look at home.

Eileen said...

I know themrs put Crocs on her 'fashion don't' list, but I own three pair and I wear them all the time (in the house and out back, but not in public), I'm a closet-Crocer.
I've seen people wear them in Disney World parks and I've been tempted, they are so comfortable!

Nina Bell said...

Eileen,

I think we are about the same age. I learned a long time ago that comfort is of the utmost importance. Even on trips to Target. So, gasp, yes I wear them in public. I actually found something I like a little better. They are made by Lands End. Now that is not an advertisement, so everyone just simmer down.

Marci,

I haven't seen a pair of heels since my son was married four years ago and probably will not see another pair until my younger son gets married. Hmmmm I wonder if I could wear Crocs to a wedding. They do come in all different colors.

I was getting ready to start a blog so I could save up for some of those fancy-schmancy Cole Haan shoes.But...but...Nina promised that if I hitched my star to hers, the world would be my oyster! I was counting on my big blog bucks to buy a filtered water pitcher so I could have my water fancy like Kate has hers. Now what will I do?

Nina Bell said...

Tap water sucks!!!!!

Kikibee said...

Hey, don't knock the Crocs- they cured my self-diagnosed plantar
fasciitis. Anyway, they make ones now that don't look so Croc-like.

Okay, now I'm just envisioning poor NMD being asked to wear Crocs that match that bridesmaid dress.

marci said...

Kikibee,

I agree, they are coming up with more styles that don't make you look like you're wearing clown shoes.

I had PF a few years back, but it resolved itself before I tried Crocs. I can see how they might help with that though.

Has anybody gone all the way and bought Jibbitz???

EveryoneLovesErin said...

Crocs are the *#@%!

I love them. I don't wear them every day but they are the most comfortable shoe!

I used to make fun of my friends for wearing them and now I'm such a hypocrite!

Eileen said...

You are right, Nina, I'm coming out of the closet and wearing my Crocs proudly!
Seriously, I used to feel like I was wearing my slippers out if I wore them, but now I'm feeling like, so what? I should wear my Mickey Mouse slippers outside if they feel the most comfortable! And I keep thinking about how my Mom always used to say to us, "Oh, who's going to be looking at you anyway?"
All my friends now tell me that whenever they are feeling self-conscious about themselves they remind themselves of my mother's words and it helps them a lot!
Except my sister-in-law always says, "People like us are looking at us and making fun of us! And they're saying how could anyone walk out of the house looking like that!"

Eileen said...

Marci, yes, I actually have a Tinkerbell Jibbitz! Maybe I'll take a picture of my Crocs with my Tink in them and make it my avatar.

Do it! Tink is the best.

Jibbitz, now there is a success story. The woman who started that company was featured on Oprah a couple of years back. She is I think from Boulder, CO and not too far from where Crocs' headquarters resides.

She started putting these different buttons in her girl's shoes and the community just loved it. She started a business and it took over their garage if I remember right. Her husband and parents helped fill the orders and mail them.

One day, the owner of Crocs happened to see the Jibbitz on Sheri Schmelzer (the inventor of Jibbitz) daughter's Crocs and asked the little girl where she found them. The rest is history. The inventor of the Jibbitz sold the company to Crocs for $10 million dollars with the potential for much more.

Nina Bell -

I personally do not have a problem with you or any other blog owner making money off your sites.

I am not sure if you are doing this because of a recent comment where I posted this question. I was targeting the hate sites that scream exploitation based on the fact that the G's, TLC and sponsors are making money "off the kids", which by them profiting from the site, they are doing the same thing. Again, I DO NOT have an issue with anyone making money... I was just trying to make a point.

I hope that you understand what I am saying here.

I love your site!!!

Nina Bell said...

Hi Tere

No Tere, I was just trying to address comments made elsewhere about this blog selling ads and or having sponsors. We have not so far.

Ann said...

Nina Bell,
I read that you had ads up until Christmas and I thought, "How did I miss that?" I didn't! Thanks for the explanation.

Tere, I agree with you.
I don't have a problem with ads on sites in principle. I certainly support a fan's use of ads in the Gosselin world. The fans aren't accusing the Gosselins of exploiting their children. If you don't think it's exploitation, where's the hypocrisy?

It's those who point the fingers at fans and accuse fans of being "in favor of exploitation" who should avoid paying their hosting fees by selling any ads on their anti-Gosselin websites. If watching the show for enjoyment is participating in exploitation, then so is watching the show to blog about it. It's a little hypocritical to be calling for boycotts of the shows advertisers, then asking people to "click on the ads to the left" of an anti-Gosselin thread because that's the most popular topic on your blog. This is not my standard. I'm applying her standard to her own actions. JMO.

I always think of the Teletubbies when I see someone wearing crocs. Glad to hear that they have one redeeming feature (comfort.)

MrsRef said...

I haven't worn heels in years. I had bad knees and they just made them worse. I say I had bad knees because I had them both replaced in 2007 but still don't feel comfortable in heels over maybe 1 inch. I always feel like I am going to tip over. I actually ended up in sneakers at my nieces wedding (it was like 8 weeks after my surgery) but they were comfortable. I just have to have comfort over fashion. I have blue crocs that I bought to wear in the gym on the days I use the pool. I can get right in the shower with them because the idea of the showers grosses me out!

Samantha@IW said...

I admit I think crocs are I can't being myso uglyself to wear them no matter how comfortable they are. I say that as someone with a very high arch and major heel pain bc of it. I'm so vain.

I ALMOST bought a pair of pink ones last year at Disney world bc my shoes were bothering me- they had little Mickey cuts outs all over them. I was able to restrain myself. The little Mary Jane looking ones aren't bad.

I'm more used to them now but when they first came out I remember thinking- are they serious? These will never last! Haha :)

Nina Bell said...

Samantha,

You are truly missing out on a unique experience. That is all I have to say.

Well the lilacs are in! lol, it took all day and now Im just praying they don't die in the cold weather/snow we are supposed to get later in the week. If I had known it was going to snow when I ordered the lilacs I definitely would have held off.

Oh and about crocs, I love them! They are so comfy!

I am *so* with you on the bare feet in the gym shower thing, Mrs. Ref. I usually wear flip flops, but maybe I should consider going to the dark side and buying a pair of Crocs. Hmm. Tempting.

Ok I'm laughing so hard.... I just read my last post! My cursor does this thing where it moves itself while I'm typing. Look at this little gem:

I admit I think crocs are I can't being myso uglyself to wear them no matter how comfortable they are.It was *supposed* to read:
I admit- I think crocs are so ugly I can't bring myself to wear them, no matter how comfortable they are.

My cursor moved and mixed the words up.... I promise I have a fairly good grasp of the English language.

Did anyone watch The View this morning? John McCain's daughter Meghan was guest hosting. She said she was watching Jon & Kate with her mother and Cindy told her she wanted grandchildren. So, they aren't turning everyone off of having kids.

She said something like "(I'm, She's, We're) sort of obsessed with it (J & K), I don't know why",
but I didn't catch it all. That's all that was said about them.
